Hi all,
I have an old model 12 that was my grandfathers. Looking for recommendations for someone in Ontario to hot reblue and do some work on it. The forend is a bit loose, the butt stock is cracked and some other minor details.
Thanks in advance!

If it's nickel steel it has to be old style rust blued if costic blued the bluing salts have to go up to about 315 degrees F and no other guns in the salts at that tempature . As for the rest of repairs sounds more like adjustments not repairs

I would just have the old girl tuned back up to field condition. Re blued Models 12 rarely look right and it takes a master on the polishing to make the blue right. (they rarely are) A work worn 12 with character gets my vote over a re blue any time.

Thanks all, any reccomended smiths in the Guelph, Kitchener area?

Not many smiths left that know the Model 12 well. Although not in your area Rob Wise of Wise Choice sports is a decent model 12 mechanic. He is just north of Orillia. Most gunsmiths will say they can tune the model 12 but the model takes a lot more than just parts change to fix up.

There is a retired bicycle mechanic that shoots at our club (Sydenham Sportsmen south of Owen Sound) that is a die hard Model 12 fan. If he can't fix it he would know who could. If you PM me your contact information I will pass it along or I can send you his information.
