Buying a "gift" rifle

Well Boomer we sure managed to derail this thread about Winchester Mod 70 Super Grades........
Send that rifle to Ron Smith and have 'er hogged out to a 35 Whelen or maybe a .366 Wagner........then you too could have a rifle to be proud of........and far more appropriate for that white bear country where you choose to exist.

Ahh, the OP bought an '06 and a .308, and he's thinkin on a .280, so he got the message about the .270. After all that, I think a derail is in order. I have enough mediums to keep me amused, and lately I seem to be concentrating more on sub .30s. One area that I haven't paid sufficient attention to is a dedicated long range outfit, so perhaps its time to consider a .300 something or other, so the .270 carbine might just have to remain a curiosity.

Actually BUM, even though I know you're being a smart ass..............The op did say it was for his brother, which is being fairly gender specific........Sounds to me like someone just had to attend a PC and sensitivity program...............were you less than politically correct or insensitive with one of your "clients" or co-workers, BUM, thus getting yourself a free program? I have a buddy who works for a large corporation.........he was "asked" to attend several of these programs, over the years.........didn't help!!! He did learn the latest PC buzz words though, even if he never learned the correct context in which to use them..........They just added to his arsenal of derogatory terms he used on incompetent underlings........

Moi, politically incorrect and requiring political re-education? Surely you jest! Funny thing is that I spent all last week in active shooter training. Is that what I can expect to happen to me after that much trigger-time shooting bad people? I thought it was supposed to have the opposite effect!

I must have missed the fact that it was for his brother.

Did you get the rifles from Epps..? Did they treat you well.?

And EW in 308, you don't see them very often.....or ever.
