I'm torn between the two. Pretty much same price point. Although the dd seems to be sold out and would have to be special ordered.

People who have them thoughts?

Thanks

If the price point is the same, I would go for the MRR. 11.5" offers better velocity and it has the monolithic rail as well if you like that.

I miss the days when you could get the MK18 for $1600.

I have had the DDMK18 newer version with the fancy furniture for over a year. I just put together a build with the Colt Canada 10" SAS IUR, a little different then the MRR but I am impressed with the CC quality and IUR type setup. The DDMK18 is much lighter in the rail. if weight is a concern.
Both are great, but I do prefer the CC, not just because it is Canadian. Both are quality AR's You can't go wrong either way.

I bought my SAS Upper from Nordicmarksman, they still have a few.

And it looks like Tenda has the FDE MK18 in stock: https://www.gotenda.com/shop/firear...56-nato-10-3-barrel-black-with-fde-handguard/

Mk18 is love. Mk18 is life. I'm biased but I just love the look of the cqbr block 2 style over the mrr. I've had my mk18 going on 3? Years now and it's been 100% reliable after thousands of rounds

Awesome responses I may have to get both and worry about the wife's thoughts later :) just kidding I'm leaning towards the mrr although I think the dd looks so much ###ier.

You can rebuild a MK18 on your own, but MRR( or any IUR) is pretty much out of the question. You will need a very expensive tool ( which is not available) or fork out money to one or two gunshops who have fabricated the tool to swap barrel. The barrel wrench for DD is pretty easy to get and it is cheap.

MRR also does not have QD socket near the barrel nut and the first m-Lok slot is far away from the receiver. Depending on how you employ your sling it could be a problem, as you may run out of space for your support hand with a 11.5" gun. This is a problem with the 9"ish HK slim line hand guard too, as well as BCM KMR, when used with short barrelled rifle. On a MK18, you can attach the QD sling swivel almost right next to the receiver, it gives you more of the valuable "hand" space on the rail. The SAS IUR wisely addressed this issue per SAS's requirement, but not with the civilian MRR.

Other than that, if you don't think you will ever rebuild your guns, either one is fine.

Mk18 if you plan on tinkering with it and swapping parts, MMR if you plan on keeping it as is.

Personally I'd go with a made in Canada product

Kind of off topic for the OP but if you're in that market, ever consider a LMT or KAC?

cou:

Holy cow the KAC 11.5 inch goes for $3500... and the LMT is about the same price as the other two. And i prefer the other two more.

If the Canadian dollar gets better. Do you think gun prices will drop? I'm hoping for the $1600 DD days that one of the posters talked about come back...lol

I hear you on the price for sure and unless a site sponsor is having a blowout sale/promotion I don't really see them going down.

Good luck anyways on whichever one you decide to go with.
