I wanted to find out who would carry parts for an old Norinco type 56. I've done the search function but not much comes up so if someone can help out.thx

You can import any part minus the receiver into Canada no problem. It's exporting said part from the states that's the issue

Probably Marstar, possibly Western Gun Parts, and might want to ask Irunguns (might be able to bring something in from Rifle Dynamics?) - Lever hasn't had a Type 56 Rifle in years. As far as prohib parts, if the device isn't what's prohib (like a 12.6 barrel for instance) it's technically legal to import - I say "technically" because Customs makes it's own mind up on stuff and can be a real PITA.

Barrels, receivers, trigger groups and bolt carrier groups need an export permit. Small parts such as stocks and individeal pieces are fine.

thx for the info...a lot of people confuse that with the SKS for some reason. for some reason if you google, sometimes Type 56 shows up as the SKS

Because the Type 56 CARBINE is a Chinese SKS.

The Type 56 RIFLE is the Chinese AK47.

The Type 56 LMG is an RPD.

They were all adopted in China in 1956.

Only becomes an issue when you abbreviate the full name down. Type 56 isn't the full name... neither is C1...

You're absolutely right, the correct way is Type 56-1. Funny that you mention a RPD cuz I recall there was one for sale in a store back in the 80's ,sitting beside a nice Gallil.Almost bought the Gallil
