How do you find the quality difference between the Winchester and the Browning?
If you ever wanna sell that Browning, keep this guy in mind!

Marlin made a 410 lever waaay back in the day. In the early 2000's they made them again for 1 year. 2003-2004 I think. Pre freedom group. I just acquired this fine example a few weeks back. Its truly mint and honestly looked unfired.

Great score! I was working on an oil rig in Colorado when those came out and I saw one at the local gunstore. I believe I will regret not buying that gun until the end of my days.

Not sure how much I'd have used it but I still want it ;)

Just snagged a Remlin 336 in 30-30 off the EE, looks decent... Need to see how it shoots!

The bottom one is a Marlin in 35 Rem 1991 vintage & it shoots GREAT! It is a keeper unless I find an older one that is in as nice a shape & shoots as well.

BOTH these got the BearTooth Mercantile safety delete treatment. So much nicer with that damn cross bolt safety GONE! Half #### works just fine.

Cheers
Jay

Here is how the 35 Rem does on paper. Top right is the first group, I adjusted the sights & shot the group just over the green dot. GOOD TO GO!!!

Damn nice shooting, Jay, and they're beautiful!

What's the magnification on that scope?

Do you reload? Looks like $2 a shot for that .35Rem, I really hope you do reload, lol! :d

Thanks! I am REALLY happy with the 35 Rem, it's a keeper UNLESS I find an older one that shoots as good AND is in as good a shape! Now if I could just find a 1974 Marlin 336!!! REALLY WANT ONE from that year!

And, yes I reload. But with a young family I haven't had much time lately...

Oh, and $2 isn't bad... Not when compared to the 50BMG out of my Cadex Tremor! That's near $10 a round for Hornady A-MAX!!! :ar15:

Cheers

The advantage of the 30-30 win round is that there is such a selection of quality factory ammo.
We sold off all our reloading equipment.
We own rifles in generic calibres only (30-30 win, 308 win, 300 win mag) and the selection of excellent factory ammo is almost unlimited and relatively cheap.
When paw started reloading back in the 60s factory ammo was crap and there was a wide selection on the shelves as long as you were looking for power points, core-lokts or sabre tips.
Now you can get quality ammo in the generic calibres tailor made for just about any purpose.
We do most of our target shooting with a 10/22 in our own gravel pit behind the house.

They both look fantastic.
I like the checkered stock on the REP a little better.
I had a Remlin brought to me for mechanical repairs a couple of years ago where the checkering was 2-dimensional like it was painted on.
The checkering on the gun in the picture looks like it has some depth to it.
What's your opinion of the machining & metal work in the Remlin (REP) vs the Marlin (JM)?
How about the wood to metal fitting, bluing, checkering, general workmanship REP vs JM?

I got my Lyman peep sight in the mail today and fitted 'er to my recently acquired Win 94 RCMP Centennial musket in 30-30. The rifle is in "as new" condition and shows no signs of use. When I stripped it down, I found no powder residue in the action and only the brownish factory lube that had hardened over time. The bore & chamber are pristine. It's kinda pimpy looking but it feels and handles sweet & has a nice hang to it for off-hand shootin.

This is gonna be a fun plinker & pest remover using hardcast bombs.:)
