So, I'm looking for a shotgun powder that I can also use in my reduced load 8mm mauser, 7mm mauser cast plinkers. Pretty much limited to IMR, Winchester and Hodgdon in this part of the country. Any suggestions?

Thnx

That may have been my first choice, but unfortunately its almost impossible to find in Canada now.....at least in MB. So I may need to try the 700x

I see Wholesale sports apparently carries Alliant, except nothing is in stock. Not sure what to make of that. Are they even still in business?

I have used kegs of 700X in 12 ga. and light loads in various rifle loads, mostly 30-30, .303, 30-06, 8mm, etc. I scored 10 lbs of Unique recently so that's what I'm using in rifles now. I very seldom shoot anything other than home brew cast loads, mostly WW with gas check. Lubed with Lee Liquid Alox.

Red,Green Dot,Unique,Clays,Trail Boss,Bullseye,700x have been my favorites for years.
Recently I'm finding Winchester WSF, WST and other old powders giving me much better accuracy but they are tricky to get exactly the same amount in each case.

Get some buddies together and put in a bigger order, it helps. some of the sponsors even have free shipping if you make a big enough purchase.

I went into my local Wholesale Sports recently and said I was looking for Unique or Trail Boss, the guy laughed and said "Keep looking"

Try locating Alliant Herco.

It's a bit coarser and meters less well than Unique, but has similar properties, uses, and a very similar burn rate compared to Unique and Universal.

On the subject of Wholesale Sports:

I went in and asked for Alliant 2400 once. The clerk went in search of same and returned and said:

"We don't stock it because nobody uses it any more." ???

So I bought some at P&D.
