MagnetoSpeed V3 vs. Labradar Chrohograph

Labradar. Works with any platform. Gives initial and 100yd speed.
I chose the Magnetospeed because I can set it up in seconds and it does not require any special cease-fire or set-up time at the range. I have not done extensive testing but I did compare it to a fellow shooter's Labradar and found the Magnetospeed seems to work best between 2000 and 4000 fps at the muzzle (lead and non-lead projectiles like Sierra and Barnes). Above or below that the readings are inconsistent like it is not getting a proper "magnetic signature" or some such from the projectile. However, that fps range is where I want it. YMMV.
Depends on the size of the brake: I use my Magnetospeed on several rifles with muzzle devices with zero issues. However, they are .223 & .308 devices that are not very long and not very round: just big enough to keep my scope on target, not excessively reduce recoil for a 50BMG or anything.

magnetospeed.
I don't get muzzle blast errors like i always did with standard chronos. I don't have to worry about shooting it, I don't need tripods to set it up (at least 2 one for prone one for bench/standing)
haven't had an issue with breaks, even on some of the big boys like a .338 LM

I bought the magneto.... I emailed the people from Labradar .... they told me it will only measure up to 3000 fps
So In my case cause I'm shooting hot .224's and the .30 cal above 3000 works great got it hooked up to the app on my phone and iPad... that now I can make my own dope.... drop tables ...etc...etc
Eh I'm telling you I played with my hunting load for my 25-06 ..... and the deer that came out at almost 400 meters was a one shot kill
What works for me might not work for you..... find someone who has one and go try it

Magnetospeed not cheap but affordable. works well and set up is easy Sporter read out is very touchy got a V3 control will see how that go's Only other problem I have is my smartphone won't work with their app. ticks me off.

I got labradar after borrowing friend's magnetospeed for testing. The reasons I chose labradar over magnetospeed are:
1. Labradar does not tied to the gun and thus no limitation on what you can use it with.
2. Don't have to worry about it comes loose like magnetospeed and even though slim, a chance to accidently shoot it if not tie it correctlt or tight enough
Magnetospeed is a good choice though because two of the big advantages labradar and magnetospeed are they can be used anywhere even indoor range as they don't get affected by light and don't need to be setup in front of firing line.

This is false, I have measured 3600fps with my Labradar with a .172" bullet
My Labradar also always record velocities in the mid-3000fps range every time.
I have had both, and kept my Labradar. It is definitely more expensive but way way way easier to use, especially on multiple guns and multiple users. Literally turn it on and it's working. The Magnetospeed is very user friendly user interface and recording, once you get it set up on the barrel, but to switch it between guns is a real pain, and I also thought it might have been shifting my poi too.
If you only have one rifle to test, or lots of free time to fuss around at the range, then there is nothing wrong with the Magnetospeed, but for all other situations, I'll take my Labradar every time.

Well then I guess Cacca on me then .... because when I emailed labradar they told me or it was the Canadian dealer they told me that over 35??36??3800 fps it won't read ..... I really wanted it .... no bull s$&t.... if buddy said he did it well then he did it

Wish the labradar would measure sub .22 cal rounds and projectiles over 4k fps. If it did it'd be perfect
Both are good options, it just depends what you need.
I wanted it for pistol and rifle, so the radar was the best option.
I don't shoot very fast sub 22 or much above 3k fps ammo, so it does the job.
You could also have both if you need more versatility.

If I didn't care about pistol I would have bought a magnetospeed.
Labradar does pistol, and is much easier to use with multiple guns without re-setting up.
Also does not shift POI, so you can use it always, and just record everything on the SD card then have all info in your computer. I enjoy it a lot.
I now record all my shooting sessions, all the time, always... why not, just set it on the bench and forget.

I dont get any ERRORS with my Lab Radar unit from muzzle blast - Or shooting it because you shoot off to the side of it - its NOT in front like a chrony and others - sits on a flat base on the ground or table or you can use it on a tripod too ! RJ
