So I'm trying to find a starter hunting rifle for a young lady and iv come across a model 70 with a broken safety I figured I'd buy it and fix it up. The guy that owns it said he wants 5-600 for it. The gun is in good shape other than the safety. It seems a bit high to me but what do you guys think?

That is top dollar for what you are looking at.
The broken safety will only increase the cost of this rifle if you need parts.
I'd be looking at an S2 for that kind of funds.
Howa's are suppose to be on sale some place on this planet and this could
be a better option for the same funds?

600 for a Model 70 featherweight in good condition is a fair price. Reduce by the cost of the safety repair which - unless something is physically broken - should be modest.

That price is definitely high for a push feed model that needs repair... price would be ok if it were fixed though. If it's the crf model with the long claw extractor, I'd probably bite.

A broken $450 rifle for $600? You can do much, much better.
