building a AR/SBR style 10/22 suggestions?

Any top rail marketed for the SR22 will match the height of the Ruger / Nordic chassis. You have to pay attention (I think) to attachment screw spacing as the Ruger HG and the Nordic HG may have the holes in different spots.

Here is what it looks like now..

Very nice GCDavidson.......how is your front A2 gas block mounted as it appears OEM?

Sqr, those are some nice builds. Really into the O.D hand guard and stock pic. With your Nordic Chassis, are there any top rail segments like the dlask that will work with a HG? or any HG that match the top rail segment of the chassis that you know of?

Nothing other then the NC or Ruger Handguard top rail will line up with the receiver and you will notice many builders choose a clean HG because of that situation. Some owners have mil-spec HGs with an integrated top pic rail on their rifles but I am not impressed by the differences in the elivation.

Is there no ar15 style receivers instead of just a chassis you installed your receiver into?

Yes, there are several .22 AR style receivers, but as GCD mentioned, none that are Non-Restricted. Also, none of them use a Ruger 10/22 bolt. Specter Firearms makes a receiver that uses a 10/22 bolt, but it is designed to resemble an MP5 rather than and AR-15 (although it uses an AR pistol grip):

As mentioned there is the S&W M&P 15-22:

The S&W is restricted, limited to 10 rounds and not easy to SBR (there are no aftermarket short barrels available in Canada)

...and of course there are many makes of dedicated .22 AR-15s, CMMG, Spikes, Chiappa, etc:

Kriss is coming out with a new dedicated .22 AR-15 called the DMK22 that will be able to use 10-22 barrels, which should make SBR versions very easy to achieve:

I did a budget build AR look alike 10/22.

Bought a factory 10" Charger barrel for 80.00 USD, bought a 556 AA stock for 100.00, a 20mm top rail for 12.00 to lock both of the stock parts together, a flash hider for 20.00, flip ups for 30.00, AR rail sight 20.00, sling for 12.00, tri angle front grip for 10.00. Used a spare AR stock I had in my junk box with a higher riser, and a spare red dot with QD rings.

So not into it for big bucks at all, and it shoots great. A gunsmith I know did a 2.5lb trigger job and bolt release mod, other than much louder it shoot the same or better than eith the stock longer barrel.

Was close to the 660mm limit so installed a collar on the slider tube, epoxied and used a pin to make it permanent. I know it's plastic but after 3 years it's holding up just fine and is nice to shoot when cold, just like a 22/45 and Glocks....

Fun to plink with and the idiotic stupid ill considered 10/22 mag limit by the so well respected RCMP has my mags limted, good news is their foolish decision just made me go out and buy another .22 without a mag limit! My gawd they just are so pathetic and Liberal water boys.

Nice.....I have experimented with different components of both the AA and NC and found that the pieces are interchangeable. I feel AA copied the idea from Nordic.

NC Aluminum top receiver and barrel nut pieces attached to the AA lower polymer receiver.

This is the AA polymer top receiver and HG attached to the NC Aluminum lower.

As you can see the two receivers are very similar and opens up the possibility of purchasing the NC barrel nut threaded piece (it is available) to use on the AA polymer with any mil-spec AR Handguard. It saves money for the owners of the AA hardware who want to upgrade without purchasing everything new.

Smart.

I'd own the mp 15-22 already if it wasn't restricted. Was pretty bummed out over that.

The two hex head bolts clamp it on. A bit more spendy than a roll pin A2 FSB, but far easier to mount & remove. Its really only on there to hold the HG end cap in place :)

I think 10.5" is about as short a bbl as you can go with a "normal" sized fixed stock and still be >660mm. I had to add a thicker butt pad to this ACE stock to keep it NR:

That is a very short stock on that SR-22 GCD. I have an 8" barrel on mine and it is over 26":

(Although i did have to pin the collapsable stock so it could not go shorter than shown in the pic.)

I have been thinking of a rifle length B.A.D sabertube and dlask 8" BB and those with the chassis length should come out to 26.5"

Trying to get a hold of a Hogue 7" or 9" O.D green hand guard, I have been looking around but can't seem to find one, suggestions?

Hogue unfortunately cannot ship the alum. Handguard because it's a AR part :( no luck on eBay. As a alternative I have been looking into magpul carbine handguards in mid length(9") and carbine length (7"). I'm just not sure on how you retain the front of the handguard and if the magpul HG will except a .920 bbl. Do I have to use a tapered bbl?

Thanks!
