Reloading 300 Win Mag

Hey.

I have been shooting a browning BLR in 308 for the past several years and the hornady sst's have been amazing for me. Well recently i have been gifted a Tikka T3X in 300 win mag. Wondering peoples thoughts on either the 200 grain hornady eld-x or Barnes TTSX in 180 grain. I also am thinking IMR for the powder.

I will mostly be shooting elk but also deer.

I tried several respected 300 win mag powders and settled on Reloader 17. Gets me about 100 fps faster than anything else and shoots under 1" in my rifle.

The 300 Winchester Magnum can do a lot more than what the factory offers, unless you're shooting a Tikka T3.

Just loaded 19 rds of 69.5gr 4831.

I use imr 4831 I believe. It's the orange label. There are so many great bullets out there. I have 2 loads. One is the 180 gr sst for longer range shots and the other is 180 gr woodlieghs ppns for general purpose hunting
I am not a fan of the Barnes X bullet in small bores

If you have a 10 twist, I would shoot the 215 Berger. H1000 and FED GM215M. Perfect combo for 300 Win Mag. But really depends what you are hunting and how far you plan to shoot.

I'm going to try some 200gr eldx in mine with some retumbo. Should yield over 2900 fps.

T3's magazine wont allow over SAAMI spec cartridge length.

200gr eld-x is really accurate in my 300rum but I haven't had the chance to harvest an animal yet
