I had a standard CSA mount with primary arms prism scope. Ability to remove spacer on PA gave lowest possible height over picatinny rail.
It looks like this.
Vz-304M is a QD mount/lower part of AK-300 system. it mounts on CSA standard base. 2nd part can be chosen according to the optics. I chose ACOG mount (PA is ACOG mount compatible). You can stake top part to lower part to make a one piece QD mount.
Step one.
Trying to put RS regulate VZ-304M on CSA base. And the first problem. Either my base out of spec or VZ-304M is. Rail is a no go.
Step two.
After some mallet treatment mount is on. But it is definitely not a QD at this time.
Step 3.
Removed with mallet again. Some visible deep gouges on the base where awesome american aluminium defeated poor european (or is it chinese?) steel.
You can see metal is neatly shaved. I think the problem was around 1/10th of a millimeter.
No adverse effect to the base, CSA QD mount still mounts fine.
Final result:
Regarding the mounting system itself. The only problematic part is adjusting the top part (and the scope) to be exactly aligned with the bore.
I used my Aimpoint red dot (which is mounted on piston rail) to align PA prism scope and then tightened the screws.
my final verdict. Very nice to have optics so low on VZ58, about an inch lower than CSA low height mount. not sure it's worth the money though.
I guess I can keep malleting it on and off until the base wears deep enough and it becomes a true QD mount.
