Hello all! I was wondering if any 10/22 gurus could put forth some wisdom on the dlask target chamber barrels. I read they have issues with certain cci ammo. Is this referring to mini mags and stingers mostly?
This would be my 3rd 10/22 or dar22 build I'm super happy with the sporter barrels for what I'm doing with them but I'd like to step it up a notch and try the target chamber. I'd like to fire the cci standard velocity, and now that I'm seeing eley at a lot more locations I'm stocking up on those.
Or is the kidd barrel (off dlask site) worth the extra Couple rolls of quarters and will it fire cci standards well. I know I could contact the fine folks at dlask but I honestly respect the unbiased opinion of the cgn' ers. You guys have the rimfire game down!
Please feel free to post pics of your builds

I have not owned a Dlask "Target" barrel, but I have owned a Dlask "X-treme" barrel and in my experience a Green Mountain barrel with Bentz chamber is a better target barrel and a Kidd Match barrel is better yet. I would skip the Dlask and go straight for the Kidd.

the Dlask X-treme is the Target or Bentz chamber.
i have one and i shoot CCI Blazer out of and no problems.
probably around 5000 CCI blazers and no issues.

Dlask barrels are Green Mountain barrel blanks.

I know there I a ton of factors, but, Do you find the accuracy superior to the sporter chamber barrels?

My green mountain 20" did a 1/4" group at 100 yards. Chamber seemed tight! Buy a Kidd no regrets! Or a volquartsen. Both use lothar Walther tubes

My best friend was there to see it happen. About 5-6 years ago. Wish I had pics of it. No need to over hype making something sound better than it is. I couldn't really believe it either when it happened but ya.

I have the target chamber and have shot only the German or Eley ammo. Both worked very well.Pea sized holes at fifty yards if I do my part on a regular basis.Have some Green Tag and will try that this season. Why use cheap ammo?I tried the Federal stuff (white box) and the way my groups opened up it wasn't even worth using.

Do you have the dlask barrel? The cheapest ammo I plan to run through the target barrel(when I choose one) would probably be cci standard velocity. I have other .22's to eat up bulk ammo. I don't have great luck with federal ammo either, my mark 2 shoots it ok enough I suppose.

Bentz chambers are used for semi autos because they need more powerful cartridges to cycle. I had a Dlask barrel on mine and the accuracy was the best I ever had. They are slightly larger than a match chamber and stingers were not recommended. The Schultz and Larson has a match chamber but mine doesn't shoot well with match ammo. It seems to prefer Federal Eagle and even bulk ammo, even though I have to use a cleaning rod to get the case out sometimes. .22's can be a very picky rifle.

i have both from Dlask, Sporter and X-treme and i find the X-treme to make a bit tighter group, but take into account there is a 10" difference between my barrels, the Sporter is 8.5" and my E-treme is 18.5".

My understanding is that Dlask use their own proprietary chamber designs and that the Target chamber is looser than the X-treme and that neither are a Bentz chamber. The Kidd Match barrels also use a different chamber design which is slighty tighter than Bentz.

Dlask got pissed that people would order a Bentz chamber then complain all the time that it wouldn't cycle the longer rounds.
so they dummied up their chambers for the low hanging fruit that couldn't understand the difference between them.
which is unfortunate that all of us have to pay for the actions of a few.
but they will still cut 'one off's' if you ask them - or they would, never know things change.

Maybe I'll give them a call, it seems from the website that the target chambers aren't as easy to come by anymore. Your right I think people were seeing the sporter chamber barrels sold out and then they would click on the next one that looked similar and add it to cart not knowing the difference. I feel bad calling them, it always seems they are busy as heck.lol I'd like to take a trip to the shop and check out their operation. I know I'd come out with another Dar22

I have the Dlask barrel which is a Green Mountain. When I was getting the barrel, action, chamber and other particulars together for my .22 I talked with the people there. We got an understanding about each others ideas of what we were putting together.I wanted a precision rifle that was going to use quality ammo only.Couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase.Talk with them and get together on your firearm,it's what they do.

Thanks for the input all! I ended up going with the kidd barrel. I'll only run the good stuff through it So hopefully it performs as promised. I'm hoping to get on the 1/2"@50 wall o fame
