Winchester 303 ammo

Didn't Lever Arms get a bunch of white box Winchester .303 British back in the ninties? I believe that Alan Lever told me that it was an overrun from an Israeli contract.

Correctomundo, bought one, still sitting on it:)

The old days at Lever's, marvelous.

...and no. Winchester doesn't make ball ammo in .303BR anymore and hasn't in decades. It's all soft point hunting ammo when you can find it. And when you do, it'll be $40 a box.
Privi make ball ammo in .303 and the brass is nice.

Last boxes I bought were only $31 at Crappy Tire. The website lists it at $32 now. 180gr, soft point ammo. Still not cheap, but better than $40 a box.

$39-$42 for the silver/grey Winchester 180 grain soft points here (Southern Ont.). I'm in a sub-suburb type area so when I saw the price jump (near double) I drove to the country (rural) CT...and sure enough, they hadn't read the memo. At $21 a box I bought them out. I'm now reloading the brass with Russian 7.62 hard ball projectiles for range use.

I remember paying $16 a box, not ten years ago.

We're getting screwed.

Prvi makes good quality 303 ball, and the brass is great for reloading. The Winchester stuff was very good quality, but I don't think it ended up in Israel - remember what was happening in the late '80's (when it was made).
