Hey all,

I've got what should be a simple question to ask, but I'd like to be sure. My question is about lighting in the reloading room; more specifically over the bench where I deal with weighing powder.

The light over my bench is insufficient for me to work with weighing powder and trickling charges up to spec, so I'm looking to pick up some sort of bench mounted lighting. However, as I understand it, fluorescent should not be used around scales, so I am wondering if LED lighting is a viable option?

I am trying not to spend a fortune in my hunt for decent lighting, but I want to make sure that the light source that I choose will not have adverse effects on my scale/powder charges.

Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

I used a couple of OTT lights my wife had kicking around. They provide good natural light and haven't created any problems for other electronics.

I have LED lighting in my room and the light output is great. I have a 505 scale so I can't say if it would affect an electronic one.

I have 3-60 incandescent bulbs, 17 meters of cheap eBay LED strip lighting and one of those big magnifying glasses with the light in it.
My scales work fine and I can see great also!

Overhead LED panels. They are great. I have them in my kitchen as well as over my loading bench and in my machine shop. Not cheap but they will never have to be replaced, don't cast shadows and don't generate heat. Make sure you check out what you purchase. These things can generate low light or huge amounts of light.

Over my bench and in the shop I use the 14cm x 96cm panels where my Fluorescent fixtures were hanging. The same size LED gives off 3 times as much light and draws a third of the power. There are also screw in bulbs available that put out a lot of light. Go to Rona or one of the other big box building supply stores and check out what they have. The building supply stores are usually a lot cheaper than dedicated lighting stores.

I replaced the 4 foot florescent fixtures in my man cave with vanity lights
using LED bulbs. They put out more light than the old fixtures and were
inexpensive and produce a much nicer light.
