My dad came up for a visit and brought his old Remington 600 in 243 along for the ride.
He had picked up a new scope and wanted me to put it on for him and lap the rings and such.

I hadn't handled that gun since the early 90's when i popped my first 2 deer with it and i forgot how nice that gun is!
he had picked that gun up new back in 1966 he figures.

Now im kinda wanting to pick one up for myself.
He said i should wait to inherit this one.... but he wont let me use it now and i want one now!

sorry photobucket was down all night.

here is a pic from my ipad

nice little 18.5" barrel, old school bush gun!
scout gun before scout gun phrase got coined!

if my memory serves me correctly this gun feels like its jumping straight up instead of pushing back at ya like most guns.
short barrel syndrome i guess.

I've got 5 of them now. Still need 3 more though.

Looking to get them in all calibers so I still need 6mm, 6.5 rem mag and 35 Remington.

Let me know if you're looking to sell!!

Buy a Model 7, it has better features and is about the same size/weight...

Agreed! I have a 600 'Mohawk' .308W and its a fine little gun. But the Model 7 is a 'finer' little gun -- and available in 7/08 (etc) and stainless (if that turns your crank) and laminated, walnut or synthetic stocks (all nice choices) ... If I didnt have the 'Mohawk' ... I would buy a 'Seven' ... since I do have a 'Mohawk' - it will do.

I put a Boyds stock on my .308 and not only does it look good but it feels good too.:)

That's a slick little rig . I had one but it was donated to the niece/nephew fund for hunting rifles a while back . The nephew still loves it . I will pick up another , I even like the reverse dog leg bolt handle . The Mohawk / 600 / 660's are handy little rifles . Great , now I have to buy one .

I picked this little rem 600 off the exchange a while back. A take off 308 stainless mountain rifle barrel in a wildcat stock weighing 5.75 lbs scoped. Used it last year as grizzly backup while bowhunting moose. It hangs off my gun bearer without even knowing it's there. Suprisingly accurate as well. Great little guns.
