Negative review is not just "punishment" for the user in question but also helps the rest of us in the long run.

got a press some years ago, the handle was removed with a vice grip and to cover it up sharpie was used, found it funny at the time, told the seller he offered to refund, this was a easy fix in the lathe and a bit of emery cloth, dab of cold blue

Yep, never been misled like this. He's been contacted twice. Will wait until tomorrow before sending feedback. Anybody know of a good durable paint?!!!

I did an old 6.5x55 in VHT paint from Canadian Tire, I stripped all the metal with vinegar, then follow the instructions for the paint, it is baked three times at an increased temperature each time with a recoat between baking, I did it on my BBQ about four years ago. Cost less than $20 it still looks good, I oiled it right after the last coat with gun oil.
Another vote for a negative on the trader rating, unless the other party makes a serious effort to make it right, I remember selling an old 94 win a few years ago the fellow who ended up buying it commented on how nice the receiver looked, I advised him to please look closely at the pics as it was quite freckled, He did buy it but was not disappointed when He got it, I have lost count on the number of items I have purchased on this Site and have only been disappointed once because most others on this Site have treated me the same, all we really have here is our word and your trader rating is a reflection of that.

That's a pretty broad statement from someone with 7 transactions.........

There are many fine members that use the EE.

OP,

Sorry to hear you dealt with a dud. Despite the marker, if this is your first Henry I'm sure you'll like it.

Funny, I thought the same thing.
OP, dont let it sleep, either get some money back or send it back for full refund and keep the others who may try to scam honest for another day at least.
Rob

The feedback is for all of us
is not just i little use seem like well abuse and dont care rifle and a cover up
Dont lets someone esle be fraud by this rats

A single out of focus pic is usually a red flag for me. Always ask for close up high def pics.
It's a $350 gun new, not worth getting screwed on or having to refinish it out of pocket.

Definitely leave a negative. What the seller did to cover up the blemishes was no accident. He deliberately misrepresented the gun.

Heard from other party and he says he didn't know about the marker and wasn't trying to hide anything. For all I know this is possible. Wants me to call and talk about it. Feedback left, comment made. I'm done with it. Thanks for the input.

That is a "fair" to "good" rifle, as far as I'm concerned. An honest seller would have highlighted the scratches in the pics. I think the only way this seller would ever have an honest bone in his body is if he got cor*holed by an honest man.

OP, sorry you got a bad deal in the EE.
After this thread you give the guy a neutral rating and hardly three words in the description why? I guess you are fine with the seller repeating this slimy sales tactic with others on the EE. Thanks for that.
If people reported accurately what happens in the first place you may not have got a bunk deal. Now you have helped continue the cycle with your "I got screwed but Id hate to ruin his trader rating," attitude.
Maybe the next guy that gets a raw deal will post an accurate feedback and save us all some grief.
You're just tossing EE members under the bus by letting it slip.
It's clear the seller was not clear with his description and overstated condition.
I guess you are cool with that.

No need to rip the guy. It's his deal and he can decide the manner in which he chooses to respond. It might not be how someone else might do it but he's hardly throwing "EE members under the bus." He is apparently giving the benefit of the doubt to the seller who claims he didn't know and that is his decision to make.
