Remington 600 - nice guns! (Now with picture!)

I picked this little rem 600 off the exchange a while back. A take off 308 stainless mountain rifle barrel in a wildcat stock weighing 5.75 lbs scoped. Used it last year as grizzly backup while bowhunting moose. It hangs off my gun bearer without even knowing it's there. Suprisingly accurate as well. Great little guns.

Sweeeeet.....
Great combo the blued action/stainless bbl/green&black web stock.
I'd trim the barrel down somewhat....and mount a 1/4x zero obj scope in xtra low rings.....she'd be perrrrfect

took the old girl out to test the new scope today, man shes a snappy little fire breathing hell kitten!

I must say............that is the first time I have ever heard a 243 referred to in these terms..........

talk to my dad, he put 50 rounds down it and his shoulder was killing him!

i shot it than a 30-30 then a 308 and the 243 was by far the hardest on the shoulder, the others i didnt even notice.
must be the short barrel.

I think you're looking for:
Willie Manning
Coquille Valley Machine Works
541-396-6246
54511 Arago/ Fishtrap Rd
Myrtle Point, Oregon 97458

Beautiful aluminum alloy trigger guards

i found out why the 600 was kicking the hell out of my dads shoulder.
he was using my shooting table and his new shooting bag and it was all too low for him so he couldnt get a good shoulder weld on the butt of the gun, so the 600 was getting a good run up at his shoulder and smacking him every time he shot it, haha!

I was splatting away with my 243 last weekend as well. Trying to work up some good 55gr loads. It was more like shooting a high powered air rifle though for recoil. With Varget there was a pretty good fireball even out of the 22" barrel.
Shoots them pretty good.

Guess you've never tried a 600 in .350 Remington mag!

I have. Long time ago. Summer/Fall 1968, in the B.C. coastal mountains near Garibaldi Park.
As I recall, it was very light & easy to carry which, when your backpack weighs 60-65 lb., was appreciated.
Considerable recoil - but I was young back then and not recoil-sensitive at all. lol.

Great product and fit yet pricey to ship across the boarder, bought 1 a .5yr ago and all said and done ended up around $140.

Used to be a guy in BC who did them as well. Like the 600/660/Mohawks. Have them in 222, 7mm-08 AI, 284 Win, couple of 308's. Few actions I haven't barreled yet. - dan

Good shootin'...I had my Mohawk out today and with Remington core lokts 180gr I was getting groups just slightly under 2 inches..Not as good as yours but decent for factory loads in a rifle with an 18.5 inch barrel.

I've had 3 Mohawks back in the 70's (222,243 & 308) and they were accurate buggers when set up right. Some of my amigos installed electric triggers on theirs & I must admit that they were great for target work, but I didn't install any on my Mohawks as I used them mainly for hunting. Those electric trigger kits cost about the same as a new Mohawk back then.

Nice platform to work with fer sure.:)

That is the best looking 600 I've ever seen......
