Hogue overmold stocks... how to keep them clean?

My Howa 1500 has a Hogue overmold stock, and I noticed that it's a real lint and dirt magnet. How do you clean yours?
I really like the feel of the stock, and it appears to work well as my Howa shoots very well, but it's definitely not a looker.

My 416 Ruger Alaskan has a Hogue stock. Can't say I really bother cleaning it. Wipe it and lint rubs off the cloth and onto the stock. It's fugly but functional.

Yep, and use something lint free like blue shop towels or microfibers that have been washed and dried.

I have tack cloths, will give them a try

errr... never mind that... the tack cloth left orange tack fibres behind... lol

I simply popped the action out of the stock (2 screws) and rinsed it off using my hands under the bathtub tap. All done.

I think these Hogue stocks are more trouble than they're worth. I think I'm going to source a standard Howa plastic stock with some cool graphics. lol

I agree Kurgan. Bought my 700 Tact cause I thought the stock would be durable. Not the case and basically junk. I have a Red Lava on a 10/22 build and really like it. Not so much with the black one on my Remmy. I have an old SPS stock I took off another gun and may try that.

I use G96 on every other part, works on Hogue Stock too..

with an electric planer you can shave and save some weight ... then it will clean it too ... dont laugh i ve some owners doing it ...

Ferget putting on silicone, oils or solvents. All you'll end up with is a slippery stock as well as having those chemicals transfer into your skin.

One drop of dish soap, well mixed in a coffee cup of water works perfect. I just moisten a Kimwipe lint free
wiper with the solution & slowly wipe down the stock to get off the grime. I use a soft bristle tooth brush
dipped in the cleaner to clean the checkered areas. Wipe the stock dry after with a fresh lint free wiper.
No need to put any appearance enhancing crap on the stock afterwards as the stock will look & feel great.

I use these 2 the most for gun work, lens cleaning & motorcycle detailing.

My flamo camo got recycled over to a Howa in 223...lol. Never getting rid of this stock.

The 243 it came with did get a facelift however.

Even painted, without the flames, that strikes me as a very ugly stock! Not a Euro fan I guess. Love me some McMillan classic lines.

I do have the Hogue on my Mini Howa. Looks OK, but flexes significantly at the fore end if you twist it. I go back and forth between ordering a boyds and lightening the crap out of it, or keeping the Hogue.

I did inquire about a wildcat stock for the mini (a 2.8lb stock on a 5.5lb gun is Ludacris), they said they would need an action to see if it aligns with any of there current patterns
