Anyone confirm if the thread pitch for the flash hider on the Norinco AR15's is standard 1/2 - 28?

Or is it some wonky Chinese non standard pitch?
The Google she reveals nothing. Just heresy and internet nerd fights.

Sweet.
Now I just need to get these god damned FSB drift pins out so I can swap my hand guard cap for a triangle nam one.
They are in there damn good these ones.

They come out easy as long as you do it right.

-Rest the FSB on top of a vise (it helps if you have a second set of hands to support it). You open the jaws a little so that the FSB is supported on either side of the pins.

-Use a 3/8 solid punch (no ejector pin punches or brass punches). Hit the small diameter side of the taper pin nice and hard until the pin is flush. Use a big hammer.

-Now use a 1/8" (or 3/32") solid punch to tap them through.

Done lots. Never took more than 5 minutes (remove and reinstall) :)

Yeah, similar to how I removed a stubborn one not too long ago using a taper punch to get it going. I originally used a pin punch and pretty much wrecked that. Had to give it a couple of good wacks with a heavy ballpein hammer to get it to move before drifting it out with a regular pin punch.

The 14.5 that I had was not quite 1/2x28. The replacement brake did screw on with some force, but when I took it off to use it on another project it did not fit.
Chasing the threads did allow me to reuse it. And no it was not cross threaded.

Interesting.
Thanks for the heads up on that will pay close attention when I start threading her on.

Ack.

I may have to remove the sling swivel to get it on there proper.
Going to give it one more try tonight in that fashion and then will be sending her down to Tier one Armory to get it professionally wrangled.
I know it's a good sign of a solid built gun with good quality steel but holy fack these ones are in there...
