What hunting gear have you bought that was a total waste of funds?

The $7 million they took from the licence fund to pay OPP overtime in Caledonia among other things says different. The fact is CO's don't even have funds to put gas in their trucks and that comes from the horses mouth that rides a desk daily rather than enforcement. My last complaint to the MNR got a response 11 months after the fact and 5 months past the limitations for charges. I have many more examples of Liberal theft if you would like!!

Wynne for the win!

A win for Wynne, is a loss for... well... Ontario!

Rocky "Mudder" hunting boots. Bought the first pair and they leaked like a spaghetti strainer. Took them back where I bought them and they gave me another pair. Leaked even worse. So I decided to keep them for chores around the house and the soles fell off them.

I got a Kuiu pack I'm not that impress with the 7200 bag is to big and to many pockets Evan for a 10 day hunt mite look into a smaller bag still sitting on the fence with the pack
No wear near the Quality of the old trapper Nelson's

Dozens of extra "backup" rifles - you only need one. That said, I lack remorse over this decision.

Other than that, various scents and scent removers.

:agree:

I was using the same 2 rifles when I had over 30 rifles as I am now.
Nothing but expensive dust & rust collectors and safe queens.
Sold off most of the rifles and all the handguns and had enough for a new 4x4 pick up.

Definitely a used Remlin 1895. Horrible barrel - close to a smoothbore. Bluing coming off too.

Even better - paid gunsmith for a workover. He did not mention the condition of the barrel.

No timely/feasible way to replace barrel. Not even sure what to price it for on the EE (with full disclosure of course).

I bought a pair of Huntshield brand rubber boots at Canadian Tire last year. They felt fine in the store but they hurt the arches of my feet so bad I almost had to crawl back to the truck. You get what you pay for.

Almost everything "Rocky"

worst was an insulated jacket/ bib overall combo in woodlands/ winter camo reversible.

Bought it at the local outdoor show and it's noisy there so I couldn't tell how crinkly the waterproofing was. Then to make matters worse when you flip it to snow camo, that side has no wind/ waterproofing so if you sit down on snow, like you might with snow camo... the remaining insulation gets soaked.

Kimber 84M Classic, was such a POS out of the box I never even fired it. Sent her back to Prophet River and Clay looked after me proper,

Nissan Titan that i owned from new for 3 years. Maybe i got the rare lemon but it was a total POS. My Silverado that i traded in with 639k on it was more reliable. So bad that even if they were giving them away free i would tell them to piss off.

I think there are lots of sad Remlin stories.
You can get a good rifle if you do your due diligence and check & inspect them before you buy.
Most of the defects are cosmetic stuff.
I've only seen a couple that weren't fixable and they were returned.
Not much else you can do if the barrel has no rifling in it.
It's obvious that quality control at the Ilion factory is non-existent and every gun is a crap shoot.

I would appreciate it. Maybe I'm drinking the marketing cool aid, but I've been looking at kuiu, exo, stone glacier, ect.

My bag is made by Tatonka. I think the model is Creek 60, but they probably don't make this particular one anymore...(there is a sleeping bag in the bottom, so it looks kinda funny in the pic)

Here's what it looks like with stuff in it. It's pretty full now, but it's got an expandable top that takes it from 60L to more like 80L.
