Nea 102

Maybe it's costing a lot of money, to make this happen.
So before they fully committed all the cash, they wanted to gauge interest.
See if it's worthwhile.

I know if it happens, I'll find a way to get one, even though I'm tapped out.
From a MV and Insite build.

They were invested before they started advertising. The model is being sold in South Africa and New Zealand. They started this initiative by first pursuing a classification for the Armalite AR102 before the NEA102.

Pulling one from the SA or NZ batches isn't that expensive a proposition overall. The mounties don't charge a fee for examinations.

I think it is a case of being over confident in how fast the lab should work on this given the earlier AR102 classification. The time limit isn't a thing, no matter how much NEA think there is one.

^^^ Exactly, who's going to enforce this time limit? If you try to force a classification, do you honestly think it'll work out in your favour? (general terms). A court certainly isn't going to press it.

If these things end up NR, they're going to sell out immediately and NEA won't be able to keep up with the initial demand. So you guys can get upset all you want. Sales will not be affected.

i think what happened is, NEA got the FRT changed on the Armalite102. then they submitted their 102. RCMP think "oh fukc, what do we do?" NEA knows that the RCMP has to release it a variant, someone at the lab says as much to Jeff. NEA jumped the gun, no pun intended. now the RCMP are back tracking trying to delay. NEA think that the portion of the law that gives a time limit is in place, RCMP put it so far on the shelf that projectile weapons will no longer be used by the time they release the FRT number.

Laugh2

Some of you guys are funny. I've bought half a dozen guns since I first got interested in the NEA 102. When it comes out, I'll buy one immediately if it's not restricted. If it's restricted, I might still get one. Actually "probably" might be a better word to use. ;)

It wasn't changed. The frt entries for the ar102 and ar10klm didn't exist previously. They are newer number's for the FRT system.

If NEA can get the rifle approved as NR and it's not a complete POS they will sell at the announced price point. No question. However, the SCAR and Desert Tech will retail for several times the list price for the NEA, effectively putting them out of reach to a majority of Canadian shooters.

Don't get me wrong, I plan on buying all three if/when the time comes, but I'd quantify the latter two as niche firearms by virtue of their price--just like most of the Swiss Arms, B&T, ATRS MH/MV, HK416, etc...

I fear NEA might not have the market it's expecting by the time this actually comes to market.

And what exactly is available out there that everyone is buying in this price range? People that want one now will buy one when they come out and the ones who are just talking $h!t will continue to make excuses and not buy one.

I've never understood why so many on this site act like you can only have one rifle and once you buy something you can't buy anything else. If it actually comes out at $1500 I'll be giving one a try even though I already have a MH and a bunch of other NR rifles. The only thing that will stop me will be a restricted FRT. I don't need to wait for range reports because I don't trust the shooting ability of most people on this site, I'll get one then decide for myself if I like it and sell it if I decide it's not a keeper.

Seems like there's a large segment here who need their wives/girlfriends to approve their purchases (what's with the prevalence of the sneaking guns past them or having to sell a gun when they find out jokes)

To go back on topic, I've given up on the NEA 102. Too much teasing, not enough action. If it ever comes out, we'll see. I actually needed a gift for the girlfriend - she did want a NR .308 but with NEA not delivering I got her a shadow 2 instead.

Politically or financially?

Potentially both.

Semi Autos could go prohib, this could be classified restricted, or (God willing) the AR platform becomes NR due to a change in government. All of these outcomes seriously mitigate it's market impact.

In the other cases some people had money set aside and have scratched other itches due to delays, or they realized this gun although really cool may not fill a need for them at all. I personally fall into both of these categories. Their general attitude has also been somewhat off putting, but that's a matter for another thread.

$1500 vs $4000 don't have a ton of the same market.

if you can save 1500 you can save 4000. Heck I work 2 jobs to support my hobbies. if there's a will there's a way.

LoL ain't that the truth. Way too many dudes are chained down by their significant other, Dont know how they can live like that...lol.. My wife just steals my guns / optics if she likes them...

I no longer have a X95 and she wants a T2 on it...lol... But thats a good problem to have I guess.
