I never thought I was getting over pressure signs in the past 'cause I made up 500rnds at 4.2gr but I just happened to check some brass I picked up from my last range session. Unless I happened to have picked up someone elses brass with mine. I've got about 150rnds left of my 4.2gr loads so I'll check 'em next range session. :p
 
started with CFE, ditched it...unlike MET I find the dirty the other way around. Titegroup of HP-38 is my 9 powder now

titegroup I find 4.1/124 works the best in my legion and my scorpion, 3.8 for my striker-fire pistols...still playing with primers but no discernible difference thus far
I also hit the crimp just enough to take the sharpness out of the brass

Sometimes, but not always... dirty cases can be a result of not enough neck tension or crimp. Oversized chambers and underpowered loads can also contribute. Something is happening that the case isn't expanding fully against the chamber walls and gas is comming around and up the case. The wonerfull world of reloading....
 
I use 3.5 to 3.8gr of titegroup with 127gr, 130gr hp and 137gr powder coated cast. Recoil is really nice with 3.5 in my fns 9L

Unless you have a need for velocity, start low and pick the load that is the most accurate. 3.9 titegroup under those 124RN campros (no idea of the OAL) is my magic number - it shoots well in everything.
 
Thank you all for your advice, my p226 finally arrived and i was able to go to the range today. i shot 300 rounds in total (100 factory "geco 9mm fmj" and 200 ranging from 3.5 to 4.4 grains of titegroup)

They all cycled nicely except 2 rounds that i had a fail to eject / stovepipe. one it was factory ammo and the other one was reloaded with 3.5 or 3.6 grains.

I'm not too of a sharp shooter so i wasn't able to tell which amount of grains was more accurate so i think i will stick to 4.0 grains.

The only problem i found with my new gun is that the slide wouldnt lock open when i finished a mag, neither factory non reloaded ammo. It only locked open 2 times from the aprox 60 times i finished a mag. (i was putting 2 bullets at a time to practice trigger control).

In other posts ive read that if the slide doesnt lock open is probably because you are not putting enough powder to push the slide all the way back. But neither the 4.4 grains nor the factory ammo would lock the slide back. So i dont really want to add more grains.

Any suggestions???

If you're shooting 3.8-4.4gr of TG and your slide isn't locking back. There's a good chance you're riding your slide lock/release. Took me a while to get used to keeping my thumb clear of it. Stick an empty mag in the pistol and rack the slide. Does it lock back on the empty mag?
 
Yes it locks fine if i manually rack the slide back. maybe im pushing down the slide lock without noticing it. i like to rest my thumb on top of the thumb safety like a 1911. maybe is because of this. next time ill try to check if this is the case, maybe i have to change my thumbs position. thanks!
 
or your rounds aren't creating enough oomph to fully send the slide back far enough to engage....tho a friend had one out last week that was still pretty new that would do the same even tho the release was definitely not part of the equation. my mags worked fine in it, his didn't....maybe they're using new/old presses and the quality control is falling off. long list of possibilities
 
Does anyone have any experience with running a shorter OAL with 124gr and titegroup? I had my Kriss Vector out this afternoon, but was having some feeding issues that seemed like they were due to the OAL being too long at 1.15.

I've come across someone who has had success running 124gr with 4.0 gr at 1.1 OAL and it fed without issue. Has anyone run 124 Campros that short? Any concerns with pressure at that OAL?

1.10 is only .02 shorter than CamPro's tested length which they provide in their data. Start at the minimum powder charge (3.6gr for Titegroup/124gr combo) and see what you get over the chrono.

Loading short is fine, as long as you don't go stupid short.

P.S. Are you sure the feeding issues were OAL related?

FWIW, I like 3.9 gr as a fairly snappy load. It will run any gun I have used it in. But several of my guns are much more accurate with 3.6.

I suggest you load 3.5 and up in 0.2 increments up to 4.2 and find out what cycles and what groups well.

I run campros 124 with 4.0grn of titegroup at 1.09 OAL. No sign of pressure, chrony around 1200fps if I remember correctly.
 
I found with my 226 3.9gr titegroup 124gr campro was barely ejecting the spent casing, 4.1gr is working nicely, not sure about accuracy though.
