Worst rifle you ever bought?

Christianson arms 300wsm carbon fiber barrel Remington action. Payed good money second hand and the thing shot worse than my sks. If I just took 1 shot then let it cool for an hour between shots it would group 3" at best. If you shot it 1 after the other like normal the rounds would climb high and right. A 5 shot group at 100 yards would climb right off the target. 15" group minimum. Christianson wouldn't help me niether.

I dumped it to a guy who said he wanted it and he could make it shoot. I lost alot of money on it and I think he got rid of it too.

JR Carbine 45acp

Big steaming pile of broken promises.

Pistol.... Hard to say but the TT-33 is high on the frustration list

After the ruger came an sps M700 in 7 rem mag, the stock is garbage. The machine marks in the chamber would make the cases stick in there. Warranty is a horrible wait for Remington. It shot decent groups but function was marginal at best. I cleaned up the chamber with a reamer and replaced the stock. It was better but still traded it off.

M77 mkii in 7mm rem mag. It was sure a pretty rifle and I always wanted one. It was a stainless laminate. I found it heavy and unwieldy and the laminate stock was slippery. It also decided when it wanted to fire and when not to. I got all sorts of light strikes and lost all confidence in it. I fixed the issue and it went on down the road. I guess at least I didn't lose money on it.

My worst rifle was a Ruger Mini 14 I bought new in the late 70's as far as accuracy goes. Ruger blew it bigtime on this design for this autoloader. If they had just slightly up-sized the M1 carbine action, the buggers would have had an ideal platform on which to build a super nice little rifle in .223, 6x45, 7.62x39 and numerous other funky chamberings like .35x39 etc. They could've had full stock versions along with standard sporter & milspec models as well and sold big batches of 'em.

When one looks at all the available options offered over the years for the M1 carbine, it just don't make sense to construct an abortion of a platform like the Mini 14. It's just poo for accuracy due to that revolting barrel clamp and stock layout as well as being bulky in feel.

As an aside, the M1 carbine should have been chambered in the .357 Magnum with a rebated rim to suit the action and loaded with 140 gr. FMJ RNFP (With 1/8th" meplat) bullets at 2000 fps. from an 18" barrel to best do the job as a defense arm back in the days.

Many folks would have made it back from WW2 and later conflicts had this development occurred... Garranteed:)

You buy a lowend shytey rifle, you get a lowend shytey rifle... the reason they sell it for $300 is because they spent even less to make it.... so, who is the authority on "quality" and "value?" When you pay $300 but expect "$1000 quality..."

It would be different if you paid $1000 but got $300 quality... that is a reason for griping.

I have never met an M70 or M77 I didn't like... I have met a couple M700's and A-Bolts that I didn't care for... but the worst was a Tikka M65.

Interested in hearing your gripes with the M65. I've used and owned a few and they are fantastic rifles.

For me it was the ruger scout. Grittiest action I've ever felt. The only thing that could have made that thing cycle worse was if you'd poured a bag of sand into the action.

Savage FCP-K bought new fire four rounds could not extract cases 4 years later 4 or 5 trips to the warranty gun smith kept coming back worse then before.finally getting my money back. Only good thing about it would shoot under an inch at 100yd's. liked the rifle the warranty not so much.

My scout was the same way, very rough, the rear sight is retarded and rugers matte stainless finish sucks ####, looked like #### after one hunt.

Interesting,
Mine smoothed out after 100 rounds and lots of cycling (yes it was rough new), not sure what's "retarded" about the rear sight?, I've beat the hell out of mine and the matte finish still shows well.

I must have had around 60 rounds of load development, sighting in and hunting. Also had a fair amount of cycling and dry firing but never really improved and I could bind the bolt up fairly easily. The windage and elevation adjustments or lack of is was my only issue really, minor in a hunting role I guess but reaching out with irons is fun especially In platform like this. Don't know what to say about the finish, was scuffed to hell after a litterly few hours. Their shiny stainless finish holds up way better. Aside from that it's an awesome rifle, I've just lucked out with all my stuff.
