No, I was wondering, since I see a lot ow WWII era firearms being talked about here, Has anyone ever had the chance to either test a newer era Russian sniper rifle OR can they be bought in Canada?

If you can,pictures would be nice to see whats available.

There was Medved rifle that is derived from SVD available however they are high end hunting rifles and expensive. I highly doubt that there is more then 5 in Canada

Ive owned 6 different Valmet M78 snipers, its not the same action as a SVD but looks are similar and they are non restricted

I have two east German draganov's. Barrel length alone should make them non restricted.

If you are going for dragunov looks, and not actual sniper performance, I know some people have made stocks for their cz858 to make them look like one.

SVT 40s make a pretty good base for a Dragunov clone... But someday I'd definitely like to get my hands on a M78 Valmet and make a PSL clone.

Maybe under a Maxime government, guns like the PSL, Vepr, and SVD's will once again be nonrestricted! One can only dream.... Haha and burn lots of money and time on making a clone.

I'd buy modern sporting clone of SVD in a heartbeat.

It's called "Tigr-1". available in 4 calibers, 7.62x54R, 308, 30-06 and 9.3x64 and shoots 2MOA with Barnaul surplus.
