Mauser 3-position "Win M70 style" bolt shrouds

I recently had a Timney trigger and a Pacific Tool and Gauge 3-position safety installed on a Brno ZG-47 by Gary Flach in Langley, BC. I supplied the parts and Gary did the labor. I'm very happy with the results.

I believe the Pacific and Dakota safeys are the same and probably both made by Pacific.

I ordered the safety online from Pacific. There was a minor delay caused by the fact that there was some ITAR paperwork required even though the safety was exempt. Pacific dealt with the paperwork. There was no holdup at the border.

If I were to do it again, I would probably order a Dakota from Brownells. I get a discount from them and their shipping is around $14.00 as opposed to +$40.00 with Pacific.

I have two Husky / FN rifles with Gentry safeties and shrouds and I have been happy with them. One was installed by Epps and one by Corlanes. I have used them both for quite a few years.

Likely most, which is one of the reasons the unmodified ones have higher value. Back in the day there weren't a lot of Mauser collectors, 33/40's were prized for their size, same as Mexican Mausers. I used a a lot of different ones to build sporters, still have a half dozen or so tucked away. P14/M17 Enfields too, if you wanted a boomer, you needed a big action, and there were very, very few commercial actions that filled the bill. So it goes. - dan
