I had a 22-250 V at one point. I built a target rifle, and Dad wanted a varmint rifle, so off it went to a new home. Still wanted a #1 so I picked up an H stainless in 375 H&H. Will probably hold of to this one as my foul weather rifle until the recoil gets to me.

But, a .338 fed would fit my collection (as it will sit shortly), and leave me only missing the .260 away from the whole "conventional" .308 family.......

It depends what you are looking down the sights at ? As pretty as it gets for performance and recoil would be the 338 Win Mag - In my opinion that is - second choice would be the 9.3 x 62

.300 H&H, but I'm biased as I own one. I also owned one in .450 Nitro Express 3 1/4".

No. 1s are best enjoyed in chamberings with panache.

7x57R with irons and some nice wood. On a No.1 you have the best action available for the money, few parts and a little elbow grease and you have something truly special.

I have one in 450 / 348 AI and love it.
Basically a rimmed 458 Win Mag., a tackdriver with either cast or jacketed loads.
As for power it all depends on how far up you want to turn the wick.
MV will match a 458 WM or exceed it if the shoulder will handle it..
