I recently acquired a beautifully grained walnut stock that surprisingly once belonged to a Howa 1500 Hunter. I wasn't expecting much when I purchased it off EE for $130 all in, but I quickly realized what a gem I acquired. The grain and finishing, inside and out, are impeccable. It has quite a bit of light wear and tear from hunting, so I was thinking that I would like to have it properly stripped, dings steamed out and refinished in a nice low-lustre oil finish. The question is, how many guys still do that sort of work?
