I'm in central alberta and would like to have my rem 700 rebarreled willing to ship it out and have not bought a barrel yet thinking 243 win 1-8 twist 24-26" looking for suggestions wanting high quality work. Gun shoots 1/2 to 3/4 moa now but is a youth 20" and won't stabilize 105 grain. Thanks in advance

Insite arms in Lloydminster does good work. Although I shouldn't be mentioning them because that'll just cause my build to wait longer if they do your rebarrel haha.

If you need a barrel also, could call JC Custom Barrels, he can build you a barrel to your specs and install.

Insite Arms is doing a build for me at the present and while I've (obviously) not seen it I am pleased with the way things are going so far and, of course, they have a very solid reputation.

Still waiting to hear back from EM Precision about an inquiry I made yesterday which tells me they are pretty busy as an email/text is quick to attend to.

Chou Bros are, of course, in Ontario but they are simply superb gentlemen to deal with an do amazing work. Sadly, I know they are backed up till Sept but if you can wait they are just awesome.

Casey at Tac Ord (also Ont) is a favorite of many and is well-regarded. I've had his builds and they do shoot.

You don't hear so much on these forums about ATRS anymore but they are, of course, still around.

There are others of course and many will have personal favorites. CGN's own Guntech is in BC and is another fine choice to consider

I've got a build in with Guntech (Dennis) right now. Building a 700 with a JC Custom barrel. I'll post a review when she's all done up, but based on Dennis's reputation I have no concerns that it will be a fantastic shooter.

Thanks,
Cal.

Casey at Tactical Ordnance has done 2 projects for me. He does amazing work. Steve Emblin at EM Precision Rifles is currently working on a Tikka for me. I've heard excellent things about the guys at EM Precision Rifles.

Cummins..... If you are looking to get a rifle built, look no further than Insite Arms. They are absolutely top notch!!! The Guys there are friendly and have tremendous experience with building rifles ( the right way!!), for long range shooting, hunting and any other style of shooting you do.

I recently had Harley re-barrel my HS Precision HTR Short action in a 6.5x47 Lapua. I asked Harley to provide a MTU diameter barrel and build away. Shortly after I got a call from Him saying that he bore scoped the barrel before starting to build and noticed some porosity in the barrel, he then returned the barrel to the manufacture and had them send out a new replacement......Tell me what gunsmith would do that????

They also build the Heathen Brake that I had Harley install on this rifle (just in case I get the chance to shoot PRS). With it you can spot hits at 400 yards on steel targets...( Amazing piece of kit). He also does an absolute bang up job on cera-coating to, which he has applied to 4 of my rifles, and last but not least he let me take a look at the chambering job, with the bore scope, before I left the shop......Again, who does that??

Once I got the rifle, I loaded up some test ammo and went to break in the barrel. All of the test loads I shot were under 1/2" at 100 yards. Once I started to narrow down the charge and tune the load, it was pointless to shoot groups at 100 yards....couldn't tell which load was better!!!! so I moved to 200 to see if there as a load that stood out....

I finally settled on 40.2 gr of H4350, and the 140 Berger Hybrid. See final test group below. Thats a .209 MOA group off a bipod...5 rounds at 200 yards!!!!

And to top it off, I shot at our F-CLass May Long weekend shoot these past 2 days. I was totally impressed with the way the rifle shot and handled. I haven't shot F-Class competitively for the last few years so my wind reading skills were a bit rusty to say the least....but with this rifle it was so much easier. The V-Bull in the centre his 1/2 MOA.. 3" @ 600 and 4" @800

Here is the 600 Yard data card:

And the 800 yard from today:

So as you can see its pointless to go see anyone else to build you a Super accurate rifle. I usually stop in at Insight arms to say Hi when I go through Lloyd......and have seen test targets of the rifles Harley has built for his customers.......out of the 12-15 test targets he has shown me, the worst.....and I mean the worst group I have seen, was from a .338 Lapua AI....and that rifle only shot a mediocre 5 round group under 3/8" MOA. I have seen groups from some of Insites rifles that will shoot MINUTE OF DECK SCREW???!!!! WTH is that you ask......how bout 7 rounds at 100 yards that you can cover with the head of a deck screw. Can you say WOW!!! This is the kind of quality you get from Insite Arms. And these are full out Tac / long range rifles...not bench rest builds

Hope this helps make your choice of gunsmith a lot easier.....Do yourself a favour and give Insite a call, they will be getting my next build!!!

Pretty much my experience with my insite built 6xc as well.
I'm doing poorly if I'm knocking out 1" groups at 300 yards with it. I'm doing well when I'm shooting 1/2" groups with it at 300 yards. 5 round groups...that's creeping up on good dedicated bench rest rig accuracy.
Phenomenal accuracy.

I found a pgw in 6.5 creedmoor so I have not been phoning around yet but loydminister is driving distance so that will be my first call thanks for all the suggestions.
