Can anyone educate me on figuring out if my m305 receiver is acceptable for a hybrid Chinese/ idf build? I want to send out my receiver to get the markings removed and placed on the heel of the receiver. But before I do that I want to insure that I'm sending a receiver that is close to usgi spec.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Awesome thanks John, I'll have to try this when I get home. I actually intend on sending you my idf parts kit and receiver to do a full NM build, but I just want to machine the marking on the Heel before I do so.

I saw on the other thread that you have machined the heel on the hand select Chicom receivers, is that a service you provide? It would be nice if I can do a one stop shopping.

I use a business (non-board business member) in ON, who does (IMHO) an excellent job. The lead time for the recievers I did was close to 3 months.

The blanking, heel stamping and parkerizing etc adds about $500 to the cost of a build. The receiver would have to be annealed, machined, blanked, welded, refinished, engraved and the re-heat treated and then finally re-park'd. The rifle could then be assembled. The recievers I use for this process are pretty much the "best of the best". All of the ones I've done to date were 2009 poly-tech recievers (with one exception). My next batch is going to be 80% '09 polys. About 75% of the Chinese recievers I see are "in spec" enough to be worth the effort, again IMHO.

I would be willing to handle all of this for you, but the costs for the work would be passed on to the customer and the turn-around time would be quite a bit longer than my norm.

John
