Prove them wrong. Got my moose last year with .375 H&H and had the least meat damage - ever... I could actually eat right up to the hole. :)

Ask them what its like to find out that everything they know is wrong.

This impala is smaller than a typical whitetail, but it didn't explode when it was hit with the .375 . . .


The next day it roasted over coals . . .


And that night came the proof that the .375 is the carnivore's friend . . .

:) Good post and photos. A while back, I picked up a custom 375CT from a site member. If I want to use it in the field, and soon, the first likely opportunity would be on a Vancouver Island 'Monster buck' but I thought it might be a bit much. Now, ;) maybe not :p .
 
.375 H+H on deer sounds similar to when I used to shoot gophers with my Trapdoor Springfield 45-70 , using 500 grain cast bullets over black powder...just for fun. (I had to watch out for the ricochets though). Use a rifle that you enjoy.

Well, I guess I'm the other schmuck.....traded off my 700 in .375h&h and have been waiting for one of these! It joins my 336 in .375 win in the safe - just waiting for Alberta moose draws to open!

I shot him walking away, hit him at base of shoulder and exited the side of neck. Pretty much just a clean hole in and a clean hole out. Little bit of blood shot around entry. That's it. Not even close to the damage a 270 does on Bambi. The 375 result is similar with my 35 Whelen with 250gr bullets. Just augers it's way through. My hunting buddies giggle when they see the artillery I bring every year. There one week hunters that have had the same box of ammo for 5yrs.

Ya, I only rifle hunt for one week a year too but go through more ammo than that.

I have always had a lot of admiration for the 375H&H ever since I was a young man.

My grandfather taught me how to hunt and he owned and proudly carried a pre 64 Winchester Model 70 supergrade chambered in 375H&H. He affectionately called it "Big john"

I first shot it when I was 11 and vowed to have one of my own. Grandpa had a great appreciation for that cartridge.

I proudly own a Sako 85 Kodiak in 375H&H.

Not at all taking away from the 375 Ruger, but the H&H is a classic.

Duiker, even smaller. 250 gr aframe. The med bore is super versatile. Quartering away shot at 50 yards, in the chest and out the neck with almost no damage.

New to this thread. I've been interested in the .375 H&H cartridge for some time but never owned a rifle chambered for it. This thread has been interesting reading back...

I've spent a fair bit if time reading W.W. Greener, some Theodore Roosevelt, and lately some Safari Rifle II by Craig Boddington. I've always admired the Model 70 Safari Express. Just thought it was beautiful and functional.

Got a little closer to the dream yesterday, ordered a Zastava Model 70 (M98) in .375 H&H. Not quite the Winchester Model 70 I always admired but it'll close enough for what I was able to afford and get.

I Don't see myself going on Safari anytime soon... I guess I should never say never, but my hope for this rifle is to serve well during moose season.

Love my CZ 550 Lux, just got it this year and the rifle put the first two shots I ever took with it about 1.5" apart at 100 yards with the irons. Been getting along great since then and it helps that she is a looker too:

...started with 2 ruger #1 tropicals in .375 h&h on the prairie...

...moving back to the bush i had my 7mm rebarreled at PGW and added a classic, shortened for bush work...

have other calibers...but they all worship at the altar of 375...use it all the time
 
Sighted in my newly shortened CZ 375 today. 3 rnds in 0.85"@100M. Yes I know, mixing units, the range is 100M. 270Speers over 75gr of Varget. Much easier to carry with a 20" tube.
