What version of Tikka for hunting/long range shooting

I have a 300 wm in a tikka tactical with brake, 4 by 16 scope. I remove the brake for hunting, because its easier to swing for running shots. I shoot 178gr bt, Its just a all around great rifle for me.

Not only that it will be more pleasant and cheaper to shoot..
I have 2 chassis stocked rifles and I sure as hell won't still hunt with them..

I have hunted with both extremes, my HS HTR weighs north of 14lbs and I've hunted with it a lot, my main rifle used to be a Rem mountain rifle in 280 so that was beautiful to carry at 8ish lbs kitted out and I also had a Rem 700 in 260 as my backup rifle. I love the 260 caliber a lot but I'm not confident at taking 400yd+ shots at Elk with it. My preference is something a little bigger. If all I was hunting was deer it would be a no brainer for sure.

How's it like for recoil without the brake? I shoot my 15ish lb HS 300 without a brake and it's very nice. My Rem mountain rifle in 280 though packed a punch.

There are light chassis systems out there if you're willing to look around. The MDT LSS is 1.8lbs (plus another 0.5 lbs for a buttstock). That's less than a lot of traditional walnut stocked hunting rifles. Add a barreled action (maybe 4-5 lbs) and you're still under eight lbs (un-scoped). I think my tikka build un-scoped comes in around 7.3 lbs

That is exactly the chassis I had in mind, I was going to make sure that the MDT mags for it feed well and accomodate the length needed for reloading 180-210gr rounds.

my 300wm recoil is nice with out the brake, its a 10lb gun, I got the brake to see the shots on coyotes that I was shooting at 600yds plus. the brake stopped muzzle jump. with out the brake I can target shot 50 rounds with no ill effects.
