Marlin X7 + Vortex scope?

Hey guys whats general consencus of the Marlin X7 and a Vortex Crossfire 3-9x40 scope combo??

Might be the medicine to Screw on a 35 Barrel down the track?? the Scope must be about a VX1 calibre?

any info please sing out..

rifles in 3006 and all up is $595 .... an most bare rifles are selling for the 600 range..

The Marlin XL7 rifles seem to have garnered mostly positive reviews, seems to me we have several members here that are quite pleased with them. Vortex scopes, the Crossfire line in particular, seem to have fallen out of favour. While I've never owned one, what I've been reading about them in the last while has been mostly negative.

The only positives I hear about the Crossfire is the great warranty, which seems to be relied upon quite heavily according to CGN.

Do you have any insights on the Vortex warranty process down under?

I think I'd look at re-tubing a Remington 783 before the Marlin. The 783 gets very good reviews and is much the same as the Marlin but comes with a detach mag.

I've owned two Vortex scopes, one CF2 and one Diamondback. The CF2 has very good glass.....as good or better than the VX1, in my eyes

The Crossfire is made in China, so inline with any scopes made in China... probably best to find a rifle without the scope and put something better on it.

Bought an XL7 for one of my sons and it is much more accurate than the expensive custom Mauser I also bought for him. No issues with it as yet in four years. He like it. No exoerience with the scope, sorry. BTW I paid about $300 US for the bare rifle.

gday hitzy, I do have a vx2 3-9x50 sitting here on the bookshelf?! then I could maybe sell the Vortex for a few coins.. I could take the Burris FFII 3-9x40 off the current Whelen aswell

it seems like it could be a goer if I get a few more weeks of good weather with work!

sounding good for what it is, not after a show piece or anything like that, how is the recoil pad?
ps we get ripped off on prices for guns and ammo haha, $600 aud seems standard, sometimes with a bushnell scope
