.223 at 1100fps loads for gophers?

Why would you want a .223 downloaded to .22 rimfire velocity and performance?

As others have suggested take a good rimfire rifle loaded with the very best ammo you can get and you are still way ahead of your downloaded .223.

As a bonus you'll keep the farmer happy, which you should have done in the first place instead of arguing about your questionable reloads.

Hey all,
I'm looking for some gopher loads for 223 that are light and quiet, 55gr hornady sp's. I have some fields where the farmers only want rimfire, but would be OK with a lightly loaded 223. It'll be inside 100m.

I've experimented with red dot but accuracy is around 3moa at 100m. I'd prefer 1moa.

Anyway have any suggestions? I have red dot and unique on hand.

I'm tempted to just shoot eley 22lr ammo but I can load 223 for cheaper and then I only need to take 1 gun.

You could have avoided all the unwanted questioning by simply asking about accurate sub-sonic 223 loads with 55 gr bullets. You would still have people insisting on knowing why you seek those loads, and probably still the unwanted suggestions to use a 22 LR or 22 Mag, and even a possible suggestion to buy a 7mm Rem Mag (believe it!), but you'd have avoided the unsolicited advice on how to deal with the landowner.

True enough lol. I got some good pm'd with load data. Not sure why so many people thought the farmers had an issue with light centerfire since I expressly said they didn't in my op but hey... I guess everyone has an opinion :)

Sometimes people are just so eager to jump in that they don't read the original post properly before they start making critical comments.
