Ever wonder how the STG-44 is not a "prohib" whereas like the Blazer AK-47 is?

One could pass for the real thing and the other is a plastic toy not even close.

Canadian gun laws are not to be made sense of.

^this. I remember seeing that gun announced...what was it, Shot Show 2-3 years back? I remember thinking "nope, won't happen." Looks as close to a real AK as my kid's nerf gun, but our government/police know what's best for us. :( The country is a much safer place without this rifle, without 10/22 mags that hold 11 or more rounds, etc. I know I sleep better at night. Don't even get me started on suppressors.

Sarcastic rant over.

The real STG-44 is not on the 12.4 or 12.5 lists (although it would still be prohib as a FA gun). The AKM/AK-47 is.

Reminds me of how my MP responded to a question I had about a local issue:

Mind your impudent tongue, peasant!

Canadian politics in a nutshell right there.

You mean pick a color.
Red or Black.
It is Monday after all....

As in, pick a number and place your bet... if your lucky, they'll approve the firearm.

Using their logic, a toaster could be deemed a "variant" of the AK47

- They're made of folded sheet metal, just like an AK
- They could be manufactured in China, by the same company who manufacture AK47
- Leave it with the firearm's Lab for a year or two... and they'll say it can "easily" be converted to fire full auto or re-manufactured as a 30 rds magazine...

And just like a Casino with rigged dice/wheel/cards... there's not much you can do about it.

^VERY well said. If the overlords do read these forums, I hope they take note of your post.

Following this post, I've been informed by my lawyer that I should bolt down my toaster. Otherwise it could be used as a "manrikigusari" which just so happen to be a prohibited weapon.

Since it is close to my kitchen knives, it could also be doubly-illegal. I could easily hid a knife in there an no-one would suspect it!
