A new toy showed up today

You didn't get the memo?....the Whelen is so last century, a 9.3 x 62 is minimum for black bear and elk.

My Whelen has been pretty much retired since the 9.3 x 62 took over the internet darling spot from the 280AI.

Ah, Yes...... But.

If you take the 9.3x62, that equals = 576.6 then times the year it was made (1905), that equals = 1,098,423.

If you take the 9.1x63, that equals = 573.3 then times the year it was made (1922), that equals = 1,101,822.

So clearly......., by this completely irrelevant number the 9.1x63 (aka 35 Whelen) is better.

;)

Guess again ...... That internet cool gun sweet spot is currently held by the 6.5 Creemoor and even it's on the wane.

For those interested, here's a range report.

I swapped the scope and bases from my other M700 and surprisingly the zero was almost bang on. A couple clicks to the left and she was dialed in for a 100y zero.
