New AR 15 with slight gouges on Finnish normal?

Got a new ar-15. I know lots of retails mention tooling marks. Not sure if this is what they mean.

Should I be grumpy or is this normal? I understand this isn't a massive deal I can cold blue it with a q tip but i'm curious is this is normal or if its worth mentioning to the retailer.

That ain't "normal" for new. It wouldn't stop me from owning the gun but I would be paying less for it.

Looks like screwed up attempt at staking the receiver end plate. Bluing will not work on aluminum, you will have to get aluminum black.

On top of very poor staking, it looks like this one was done after 6 cups of coffee. Warrants a free sling for sure. And you might want to stake the castle nut properly too.

Mine definitely had some tool marks. Light scrape on the barrel, couple small dings on the receiver. Regardless it's a good quality rifle for the money and shoots well too.

Seriously? My chinese Ar 15 does not have crap like that. Send it back for a full refund or a replacement that has no damage.

They saw that before sending it to you, likely took a gamble that it would not be returned, or its been returned several times and they think its easier to flog to a customer than go through the return to distribution chain process.

You should not have to deal with that. Vendor fked up.

Should call the retailer up to discuss options, perfectly acceptable to discuss consumer concerns.

Nope, just heard some deficiencies in the latest s&w, and since they are shipping out now. I think we will be hearing more complaints.

had to be some reason they were so cheap, maybe they sent all the ones that didn't pass QC up here.

Amazing how you know the full story when it isn't your rifle and no other details have been released.. You sure sound entitled as well. The marks are quite significant but have ZERO effect on the function of the rifle. You do realize that we are talking about a TOOL and not a collectible piece of art work?

OP, contact the vendor and send them the pics, see what they are wiling to do.
