Well, after posting a thread a few months ago asking for scope recommendations, I finally found a nice Leupold VariX II 1-4x20 (duplex) on the EE and scooped it up. I like the gloss on this rifle, it adds to the look I think. I ordered the Warne rings (medium height) and everything went together with no clearance issues at all thanks to the recommendations and help I received on here. The rifle was purchased new and had about 600 rounds through it when I installed the scope.

This rifle will be used as a small game hunting rifle (grouse and hare) and will be used anywhere from 10-50 yards but probably closer to 10-30 which is why I went with a low power scope. I just sighted it in at the range and decided to see how it held up at 50 yards for the heck of it. 4x is not a lot of magnification and it made it a lot of fun. All are 5 shot groups except top left (#1) which is 10.

I was fairly pleased with the groups I ended up with though I know there is room for improvement as I seem to have had a case of the yips on a few of those groups. I did manage to get a nice 5 shot group on the Gamo target, it was much easier to keep a consistent on the small white inner circle compared to the 10m air rifle target black blobs (aim small hit small, right?). I wish I had more of those Gamo targets in my range bag but I made the mistake of using 2 of my 3 on initial sight in. Next time I go Im going to try again with some fluorescent 1/2" dots or something. I don't have anything to properly measure actual group size accurately, but I added the measuring tape to give some scale.

Anyway, Im really pleased with the scope and how it performed. I think this is going to be a great small game setup as well as a fun rifle for occasional plinking with CCI quiets in the country. I may just go back soon and try it again with some different targets, it was a lot of fun.

Thanks for looking,

Dan

Thats a mighty fine looking CZ455 you have there.
Looks like a scaled down Safari rifle you have there with the stock and smaller scope.
It would appear your rifle/scope and ammo choice is up to the challenge .
Crappy tire has a (branded) Mastercraft Digital Caliper currently listed for $43.00 , but go on sale regularly for $9.99.
Might be something you need to measure those tight groups down the road.

Thank you very much Rob, much appreciated, I may have been reading a bit too much P.H. Capstick lately I guess! I have always liked a full stocked rifle with a straight tube scope on it, something about it really apparels to me. Thanks for the heads up on the calliper, I think I will go pick one up before the next outing, seems like a good tool to keep handy. Cheers!

That is one lovely Full Stock CZ! Great wood on it. Good shooting, with CCI no less. Yeah, it appears target choice can make a huge difference when working with low mag scopes, have you tried something diamond shaped? I picked up a FS a few weeks ago myself, barrel swapped to .17 HMR. These things sure can shoot when you get one with a good barrel (I've had bad luck with the .22 LRs) but shot this with the .17 yesterday at 100 yards, composite 5-shot group would be just under 1/4". If I ever get out gopher hunting, they're gunna have a bad time on the other end of my barrel :)

Some more shameless Full Stock plugging! :d

Dang thats some nice shooting Rabid, those gophers won't stand a chance. Great looking rifle! Other than the ones you see I posted I have only tired 3" shoot n see targets when I was using iron sights at 50y with this rifle, otherwise its the ones you see posted that use since I have a bunch in the basement. I just peel a few off the pile before heading to the range, but its time to try a some new ones that will hopefully yield better results. I have only used diamond shaped with my .308 but I can see it being a good choice to try out, thanks for the suggestion!

that little scope is perfect size for an FS. I guess the 452's are extinct.

Thank you :)
