Has anyone purchased one of these rifles? What kind of accuracy can I expect? I've always wanted a 50 but can't justify spending 5K plus on something I'll only shoot a few times a year. This rifle intrigues me.
 
Skip it and get the complete DA 50 BMG with the ATRS non restricted lower from Canada ammo. $2600 all in and a much better gun imho.

Norinco has nothing to do with the DA50, The DA50 is Canadian/American barrel manufacture.

1 MOA or less is the norm I have found. I agree with infidel. I wanted a budget 50 and the DA50 fits the bill far better than the Serbu with a screw cap!
 
My mistake, I thought Dominion Arms was another brand name for Norinco, I did not realize they made some of the components in the US and Canada. I'll have to take a serious look at it. The screw cap on the back of the Serbu doesn't bother me, the rifle is just for fun. I wouldn't want that set up for combat, lol
 
Just a DA upper goes for $1700.00 The RN-50 goes for $1900.00. The DA needs a lower, buttstock, scope and bipod to complete it, then if going NR with it it needs to be machined! The RN needs a stock, scope and bipod to complete it and it's already NR.

All said and done the RN-50 will be hundreds cheaper overall and if the screw cap is not a issue and you want in for as little as possible I would have no problem buying the RN-50. It should be a OK single shot 50, and if you tire of it you already have a scope and bipod to transfer over to a new 50.

That being said I believe that there is a market for both rifles in Canada and the more People into 50's right now the better.
 
The difference between a DA50 + NR package and a much better name brand 50 is relatively small. RN 50 is as cheap as you can get, NR and comes in forms that have biopod and stock or not at what is 'reasonable' cost differences. Weight is big factor too.

My tendency is to consider an RN 50 or to go straight to Noreen or similar. The DA 50 NR value leaves a lot to consider. I've not seen enough information on any of the option for there to be a clear winner in my book, in the game of an every mans 50 BMG.

My use case would be to explore extreme long range playing around (plinking at distance and playing with loads). A fun and somewhat practical gun, not for serious competition.
 
If not considering the RN50 and more funds available my tendency to would be to pass on the DA50 as well and go with a Steyr HS50 or something similar. I would pass on anything that's built to be put on a AR-15 lower and just stick with something that's built from the ground up to fire the 50BMG. (the RN fits that personal requirement)

A complete NR DA-50 goes for $2500.00 but still needs a scope and bipod, a complete RN-50 $2000.00 and needs just a scope. Several CGN dealers have or have had both of them at these prices over the last few months. $500.00 is a pretty good chunk of change for some and just might be the difference of getting into the 50 game or not.

I would certainly encourage people to get into the 50 no matter their preference on rifle type or shooting discipline. The more funds you have the better obviously LOL.
 
I agree with you on the funds part, I could only use the 50 a few times a year, so I don't want to invest too much there. I have serious target/ hunting rifles that I shoot quite often and didn't mind laying out the cash for those pieces. After looking at everything I think I'll save up for the RN50, for me the 50 is just a range toy to shoot things up, I'd love to demolish an old car with it, considering the screw cap that would be hours of entertainment lol. I spoke to Dlask and unfortunately he is not planning on bringing in any 18" barreled models. That would be fun, I saw a Yank with a Eotech and folding stock mounted on one lol
 
Ya a 16 or 18 inch barrel would be loads of fun on that. The RN being NR and not a semi auto means that someone with one could cut down to 18 inches legally I believe. You would loose a lot of velocity and range but it would be a fun lightweight 50cal no doubt. They say that recoil on the short barrel 50 isn't as bad as you think as you aren't burning all the powder in the barrel, I'd like to test that theory out myself.
