holsters. I have no clue.

Since all the OP wants is a comfortable leather holster for the range, as he stated, I suppose that it's really academic and irrelevant whether Kydex breaks or not, or whether action shooters can draw their glocks microseconds faster.

Just as some shooters swear by polymer framed pistols, while others would not have one as a gift, each camp is going to fiercely defend their position. Neither camp is 100% right or 100% wrong and neither camp is ever going to budge on their position.

The OP switched his preference to Kydex in post #9.
As to not budge, I did. I was a leather user for years using brands like DeSantis, Safariland, Bianchi, Galco, Alessi and Milt Sparks. Once I tried Kydex, I never went back. All my guns now wear plastic. With leather, you are always struggling to re-holster esp with thumb snap designs. You're always pushing the gun in that extra few mms. They are also thicker and some holsters have the leather squeak. Kydex? Click in and forget. Easy peesy.

Some people do allow peer pressure to make up their minds for them. Heaven forbid hat they fail to conform and make their own decisions.
But, I'll never buy a Kydex holster.
Since I'm not playing action shooting games, I have no need to fit in and be trendy.
Nor do I want to.
Bucking the trends and being an individual these days is very unfashionable, I guess.
No plastic crap for me.
I'll just say just say no to plastic.
Easy Peesy.

The pros and cons of kydex over leather was posted, OP made an informed decision to go with plastic. There's no need to belittle the OP because he made a decision you did not approve of.

"It's new and unnatural, therefore it sucks!!"

Come on. I know it's about personal preference and I'll never fault you for that. But faulting one thing for being processed when both kinds of holsters are human made, when the processed one treats your piece 500 times better is just irrational.

It's not about being trendy and fit in, it comes down to performance. Why handicap yourself?

Oh right cause if it's not wood, steel and leather it ain't for you....

To be fair, if you are not shooting competitively there really is no advantage kydex has over leather that I can think of. I own both but when I compete in IDPA I use kydex. For a lot of stages in IDPA leather would serve just as well and from my experience. Kydex can be less expensive, and that can affect a buyers decision. While kydex is the most popular material for holsters I see at the WA State IDPA match you do see guys using leather rigs, shooting their every day blaster. Just personal preference.

Leather sags and breaks down over time. That's the last thing you want protecting your trigger when carrying a gun. Recent ad in wa was due to old worn leather holster snagging the trigger on a Glock as the guy was getting out of his truck.

When it does I will buy another one. WTF does climbing out of a truck got to do with anything relating to what anyone would be doing up here. I know of one guy who shot himself in the leg with his Glock here in Canada when his shirt got caught in the trigger guard while re-holstering. AFAIK he still wears shirts and still shoots his Glock. You are as stuck on kydex as shootist1876 is stuck on leather. As an aside three screws on my Bladetech worked loose over time and the damn thing fell off my belt while practicing. I now check the screws every so often. I still use my Bladetech.

I suppose that in choosing leather over Kydex you should consider this:

Would you rather wear a supple leather jacket or one made with stiff plastic material?
Thermoplastic also has the unfortunate property of cracking or breaking under stresses and strains that would not bother a leather holster in the least.

This isn't a level 3 duty holster... why would someone try and twist it like that?
