Mec jr 600 vs sizemaster?

I only ever had a MEC 600 JR in 12 gauge.
I dont think I broke any records in assembling ammo nor was I ever pressed for time to assemble 100 rounds of 2-3/4 No.4's with Win571 Powder.
Whats the price difference for the SizeMaster over the 600 JR?
Rob

Yes and no, I have both a 600jr for loading Federal papers and a Sizemaster set up for loading Remington STS/Nitro27. The 600jr is simpler, slower to use, does not come with a automatic primer feed. The Sizemaster is faster to load on, has a collet resizer as opposed to a friction ring and comes with an automatic primer feed (a $100 option) but has more to maintain(the resizer). It depends on your needs/wants. If I had bought the 600jr first, I may not seen why the Sizemaster is the better of the 2 machines, especially when it comes to loading steel base hulls.

It depends on how many rounds you need to produce and how much time you have. The 600jr works for me and I'm shooting 50-100 rounds per week. Hunting, I would think, is a lot less.

My 12g loader is a SizeMaster. As stated above the Resizer (leafs) will break eventually (although through experience that's most likely after 10's of thousands of rounds). You will need spares which are reasonable but not cheap (Hummasons Manufacturing)
Can't go wrong with a Mec for shotgun either way.

Sure you'll be fine.
Enjoy

Have never seen a collet break and have done tons of rounds on them for many many years in all gauges. Some years 25,000 rounds
If they are not lubed from time to time and checked closely for a jammed piece of lead I could see it or may be just a fluke flaw
Don't think it is a common failure or maybe the anti seize I use on them for lube helps
I probally have close to 16 MEC units 410-10ga from jr, sizemaster, steelmaster and 9000g even in 16ga. Here is about 1/2 rest are put away until i need them
I started in the 60's with a set of jr or versamec, then got a set of sizemaster, then a set of 9000g and added some extra steelmasters and some converted sizemasters for steel reloading. I know I know I should sell some but I wont
Cheers

3macs1 that's a very impressive setup you have!

It can get of hand quickly :)
For me like I said been many years of gathering and a lot of shotgun shell reloading
What happened rather than set up the machine say for trap loads I would buy one just for that and leave it alone, so another for skeet and then have one for hunting loads guys would get out of reloading so I would buy them out and gain a few more machines, etc etc. They all work well once you know how to tweek them but honestly if I had to just have one type it would be a sizemaster . If nothing else for the primer feed which is a big bonus and the collet resizer does such a better job over the jr ring especially on some of today's garbage hulls
I have sold some over the years but mainly my 650 progressives when I upgraded to the 9000 g. They were the early ones with the seperate collet resizer which are a bit slower
Cheers

I have two 600 JR's, one in 12 and one in 20,,,,, wouldn't trade them for anything! Simple and very efficient. I'm sure the Sizemaster is also a great machine but I'll stick with my 600's.

I run a PW 375 and it's a slick machine but slow as all hell. At least with this nut on the handle.

I think the Sizemaster would be a good press value wise, use ability, simplicity and decently fast at producing ammo. I was looking to buy one when I got sidetracked into the PW

If buying used you can pick up a 600jr for very little, size masters are a bit harder to find used. If buying new I'd buy the size master as it works much better with the steel heads on cheaper hulls and comes with an auto primer feed.
I have used both as well as a 9000gn and personally prefer the size master as I can run any hull through them easily, and I get very constant powder drops something I had difficulty achieving with a 9000.

A primer feed is a really, really, really nice feature to have. I own 3 MEC 600's (12, 16 & 20 gauges) and I have added primer feeds to 2 of them. I'll eventually add one to the 3rd machine as well, but I'm just waiting for a primer feed to come along (I've never paid and will not pay new price for one).
