Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with the above rifle as I am looking at purchasing one. There is one available with one of the GTA East dealers and its really a fab rifle with the exception of the price. Appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

Telling us the model will help with determining the value.
There are a few of us that like these rifles.
If its the one I saw...it looks to be a 1956 'MC' with quite pronounced monte carlo and swept back bolt handle. 'looks' in the pic to be in very fine shape. It has whats being described as a Griffin and Howe 'quick detachable' side mount...but no scope.

I did go across and have a look today and it's in mint condition. The bore is shiny and the bolt is smoother than a tikka !like it's running on ball bearings. The Monte Carlo stock positions your head just inline for the iron sights more of a cast on. They seem like they are open to negotiation but it's still out of my league so I thanked them and walked away.

Sorry it's based on the 1952 but I believe it's manufactured in 1961 and has the qd G and Howe mount on the side. For you guys with the mulah it's a rare find .

If you are speaking of the rifle at Gagnons...I am pretty certain it is a Model 1956 MC carbine....like this.. http://www.invaluable.com/auction-l...nauer-model-1956-mc-carbine.-587-c-6cd4f2a816. However I am aware that the semi-custom production of these rifles resulted in lots of unusual variations. While the action is very slick... it is still a little challenging to reload the rifle after firing without removing it from the shoulder...even with the swept back handle...and the split bridge results in some interesting scope mount options

Yes the rifle looks exactly like the one you provided in the link above except that the scope mount seemed more robust on the one at gagnon sports . Otherwise in the same condition like the pictures shown in the above link .

Yes its nice but $3955 'out the door' is a little dear...but I am sure they can wait till the market catches up.

I have one I bought in 1965 in Germany at the Wiesbaden Rod and Gun on the US base. MCA model in .308. Still in great shape and have taken several deer with it. Shoots great and like one of the previous posters said action is as smooth as a Tika. (Paid $114.00 US on the base). Looks just like the photo in the previous post.

At $4000.00 I might consider selling mine. That's a heck of a profit.
well when you decide to sell...think of me. But fair warning :) when $4k is the going price....I'm selling....not buying. :) thats a lot of money for a hunting rifle. I think a guy with that kind of change in his pockets might have a whole lot of pretty decent options....with substantial cash left over.

I doubt that I would sell after all I've had it for 52 years now. I will let my wife know for when I'm gone though.
:) thanks...btw...absolutely make sure you leave a note with that rifle explaining what she should ask for it......or some cheap axxhole like me will try to wheedle it away from her! Or be buried with it. Afterall how many objects to we still enjoy after half a century of use?

I have a 1952 in 30-06 with a tipoff scope base and weatherby 4x scope, it is pretty much mint and I paid about $1200 for it. Wait, they do come up, the Gun Room had one as well, check it out, much better price.
