Foyer into .22 Mag.....

You tell your wife when you buy a gun? :)

Nice CZ, and a solid caliber. Congrats! Is it a 452? I've only ever owned one 22WMR, and while it didn't exactly shine on the range @ 100 yards, it was definitely minute-of-groundhog-vitals. Proved that maybe 50-60 times over the course of a summer I hunted with it. I've since graduated to centerfire for that job (shooting hand loads), and a scope that is more than 25X more expensive than the POS I had on that rifle. I think about the difference in gear, how much further away I can smack the groundhogs now...but I can also admit that I'm not having any more fun than I did that summer shooting 22WMR. Lighter rifle, pocket full of spare ammo, and more "hunting" than long-range "sniping" as I had to get within 100-125 yards to get reliable one-shot/instant results.

I love my 22 mag. Perfect for 100 yards on jacks and ground hogs. I put a 30 g vmax in to a big jack at 225 yards and there was no expansion. Just a dent in the bullet. The first shot blew his bottom jaw off the second recovered bullet went thru his shoulder and rested against his spine
The 40 gr tmj work great on coyotes under 35 yards. Clean thru the skull and leave a quarter size hole when shot thru the ribs. The flat nose seems to hit harder
The poly tipped bullets are great for starlings and crows

I have never had any exposure to a .22 mag, but always kinda wanted to check it out for the heck of it. Curious about noise...substantially louder than a 22LR?

Have to wear plugs? (I don't wear plugs with 22 LR rifles, although I probably should.)

It has a significantly louder crack to it but much less than .223, I would wear plugs if you're going to be target shooting or are under a covered bench. I shot mine once without ear protection under our steel roof at the range and it wasn't nice...

.22 mag are substantially more powerful than .22lr. Slightly more noise but not much. Really does a number on gophers. Sold my CZ 455 couple years ago. Don't know why.

Nice looking rifle!
I still have 50rnds of .22mag thats been in my ammo cabinet (for the last 8yrs) with nothing to shoot it with. Wheels turning.....hmmmmm.

Foray, not foyer.

'Twas prolly a spell check moment....
I have owned two 22 Manums.
One was the CZ 452 Varminter and the other a Browning A-Bolt that I shouldnt have sold.
Hell the 22 Mag. should have stayed in the safe, but I was foolish and though I needed something else.
The CZ whacked ground squirrels...provided a real loud ''thwack'' that is really cool sounding knowing it was a clean kill.
Price of ammo is stupid, but paying to play is the cost of playing with the .22 Mag and finding cheap ammo is silly cause there is nothing cheap about shooting the 22 Mag.
Never tried for tiny tight groups, just happy with the minute of varmint.
Nice gun and please share the targets when you get back from the range.
Tight Groups,
Rob

It probably doubled in value in that time.

I have a 22mag 9422, a dandy cal for that rifle. I had a shorty stevens(13" barrel) in .22mag at one point too, also fun.
