RCMP "Information Regarding 80% Lowers"

So what about people who have already purchased an 80% lower, machined it, assembled it, and registered it as an AR-15 ?

Is that completed gun (with a legal registration) now a prohib ?

I'm calling the cfc to register my beer and pop cans, as they are made of aluminum and could theoretically be made into a lower receiver. When i take them to the bottle depot i will request for a transfer....

THIS. Not Joking we need to start calling the provincial registrars and registering scrape metal unceasingly! I have steel tube that could be used as a pipe bomb WAY easier than I could remachine an AR into an M16. This is not stupidity! this is a protracted effort to re-classify our firearms into prohibs

I have legit been looking around my house to find random metal things to put a number on and register. Are your registration requests actually going through?

The only problem I have with a lawsuit is this... How's the one for the 10/22's going? I've heard SFA about it lately. Hell,I purchased one of those "prohibited high capacity" mags just to help be part of it and I don't even own a 10/22!!
I think we need to attack this from several fronts. As I mentioned previously, a class action lawsuit using a willing lawyer and cut out the gun orgs who will no doubt encourage a letter writing campaign and request more donations.

Then we purchase blocks of similar size aluminium and go through the formal registration process. Once registered, we drill a couple big holes in it and apply to have it de activated.

The other option is for those selling 80 % lowers delete a couple more holes and sell 70 % lowers. When a new bulletin comes out, omit a couple more features and make them 60% and so on until the RCMP finally declare any block of aluminium the size of a finished firearm to be prohibited. Only then can we truly point out the stupidity of the interpretation.

The RCMP are a disgusting force. I'd like to see them disbanded and replaced with provincial police like the OPP. And on a federal level a new police force with severely reduced capabilities and powers.

With all due respect, not a fair comment. It is a force of some 27,000 with "all manner and condition on men and women" like rest if our society there are saints and angels and sheepdogs as Lt Col Dave Grossman would say and then there is everything in between including bullies, rascals and horse-thieves. The simple fact if the matter is that the reason our country works and the RCMP and bureaucracy works (for the most part, really!) is that the decent dedicated people outweigh the "forces of darkness" - exponentially. I'm waiting for a Borg Cube to come zooming in any time soon and with "a little squeaky voice" :) (too much helium) ) and say: "resistance is futile. You will be assimilated" (insert electric cattle prod. Ouch!".With a volley of Photon torpedoes we all say "hell no", and twice on Sundays

The forces of light in the RCMP simply have to push back against the bullies and forces of darkness, not only for our benefit, but also so the RCMP will not be dragged into the gutter. Its basic law enforcement really and clearly "for the good of the force"

The Nine Peelian Principles of Policing are as follows. Please feel free to comment

The nine principles were as follows:

To prevent crime and disorder, as an alternative to their repression by military force and severity of legal punishment.

To recognise always that the power of the police to fulfil their functions and duties is dependent on public approval of their existence, actions and behaviour, and on their ability to secure and maintain public respect.

To recognise always that to secure and maintain the respect and approval of the public means also the securing of the willing co-operation of the public in the task of securing observance of laws.

To recognise always that the extent to which the co-operation of the public can be secured diminishes proportionately the necessity of the use of physical force and compulsion for achieving police objectives.

To seek and preserve public favour, not by pandering to public opinion, but by constantly demonstrating absolutely impartial service to law, in complete independence of policy, and without regard to the justice or injustice of the substance of individual laws, by ready offering of individual service and friendship to all members of the public without regard to their wealth or social standing, by ready exercise of courtesy and friendly good humour, and by ready offering of individual sacrifice in protecting and preserving life.

To use physical force only when the exercise of persuasion, advice and warning is found to be insufficient to obtain public co-operation to an extent necessary to secure observance of law or to restore order, and to use only the minimum degree of physical force which is necessary on any particular occasion for achieving a police objective.

To maintain at all times a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and that the public are the police, the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.

To recognise always the need for strict adherence to police-executive functions, and to refrain from even seeming to usurp the powers of the judiciary, of avenging individuals or the State, and of authoritatively judging guilt and punishing the guilty.

To recognise always that the test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, and not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with them.

Its nice in theory
but we all know that nasty brush
Its the same one that paints us all with the criminals
Why not the other way around?

just sayin...

They will charge you just the same. And the rank and file move up and get leadership roles and this still goes on so yes it is actually them doing this even if it a "civilian" whatever that b.s. means they are lead by a former rank and file.

EXACTLY
It could be absolutely stupid but they go out of their way to make your life a living hell
What's wrong with getting promoted based on lower crime rates instead?
oh wait, they probably will stop reporting sorta like the refugee thing....

CORRUPT TO THE CORE

The Nine Peelian Principles of Policing don't seem to include unconstitutional, arbitrary creation and re-interpretation of law as an unelected body.

The RCMP are supposed to be an independent non-political organization. They are anything but that, especially when you factor in the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and their lobbying, political donations and even product endorsements. IMHO this organization should be illegal (if it isn't already). Bureaucrats getting together outside the official capacity of their jobs to conspire and collude, safe from access to information requests and oversight.

As for the RCMP firearms lab, they are treated as an expert witness by the courts.

We all know the legitimacy of many of their rulings. If they can be proven to have made non-factual, incompetent rulings, that immediately opens every criminal case they have ever testified in to review and appeal.

That has implications they don't want to think about.

Great post, and a little disheartening to see how far from this early/founding standard, things appear to be devolving. This 80% prohib nonesense & other firearms re-/categorizations, the G20 'mass arrest & detention' kettling exercise, Sammy Yatim, ... difficult to see the influence of the Nine Peelian Principles of Policing in those actions, IMO.
