Nea 102

What rifle comes with zero magazines?

Weird...

I hear ya! IIRC they said the mags were '60 days out'...

If you go looking, you will see that XCR-M mags are sold out country wide after the release of the NEA102 as Non-Restricted...

For the $35 one of these mags cost, on a $1699 rifle, the fact there is no mag should not be a deal breaker IMHO. But I will agree, I'd prefer they came with a mag.

Cheers

I for one welcome my NEA overlords. Because pulling this off, a non-res AR10 type semi is worthy of lordship.

I question how the RCMP and the Feds will ultimately respond to allowing us a Non Restricted AR10 type rifle.

Its nice it was approved. However will this help or trigger the hammer to drop on us?

The "AR" letters will put panic into the leftards like no other letters or words can.

What about PGW?
They do make good stuff. I forgot about PGW.

No, I've spoken with a couple machinist/gunsmiths who have worked on PGW and they weren't impressed at all.

I would really like to know if the barrel is treated or not, because if there's no chrome and no nitride, I don't want

My guess would be that they are nitrided like all the other barrels they sell but until there are more details directly from NEA it's just an educated guess.

Hard to say, 102 is an unproven platform, a 180b only has one issue, the polymer lower, that was was replaced with a nodak lower, I'd take that 180b hands down

You're forgetting one very important factor, parts availability. I also have a 180 and agree it's a great rifle but with nearly no parts available proven platform or not everything mechanical eventually needs parts.
Also the polymer lower is not an issue, the internet has once again made a big deal out of nothing and convinced people to spend $500 to fix something that is not broken. As long as you don't abuse your rifle your polymer lower is no more likely to fail than an aluminum or stamped steel lower. Just like an AR the lower takes very little force during firing. Other than the batch of lowers that were made from the bad batch of polymer Armalite got the rest are reliable as long as you don't release the rear take down and let the upper swing open and slam against the lower (which could potentially break an AR as well) the chances of your lower failing are very low. Look at how many rifles these days have polymer, not much talk of them failing, pretty sure we'd hear about it if a bunch of ACR's or HK's were breaking because of the polymer construction.

There's a reason why the CAF doesn't want anything to do with PGW anymore. Parts keep breaking and I can't even get new ones because they do not want to buy parts from PGW. I have two Timberwolfs sitting in our vault where the barrels got unscrewed when the snipers simply unscrewed the suppressors. On two different rifles at about the same time. Installing and removing suppressors by hand was apparently enough to unscrew two barrels. That's great when you're humping these things in the field and your barrels aren't even tightened into their receivers anymore. They become great paperweights and you now cannot finish your job.

I can't wait until these things are replaced with the new rifles from a different manufacturer.

They claim 1/2 MOA accuracy as well as polygonal rifling with ARC+ treatment (whatever that is) on the NEA 25 link here http://cedraport.com/nea.html
I'm tempted to get one and do a side by side with my modern Hunter, definitely a great addition to the NR lineup up here. Hopefully leads the way for more products like this from our Canadian manufacturers, refreshing to see something reasonably priced as well. Now maybe the lab can get on the RDB and we can have another option in the sub 2k$ market.

I'm going to strongly doubt 1/2 moa will be seen by many, it may be the exception but definitely won't be the norm.
ARC+ is just NEA's form of nitriding which is just surface hardening which is thinner and harder than chrome so barrel tolerances are maintained better than chrome and it should also last longer than a chrome lined barrel.

Yeah I feel the same way about the accuracy claims, but it's not unheard of in this type of rifle, time will tell I guess. It does mention premium ammo in that claim, it's not an NEA release as far as I could tell so it's tough to say how reliable the source is. Or if this is even the spec of rifle we will receive as the 102. I hope so, sounds great!

There's no "AR" in an NEA 102. Stop calling it an AR by habit and they'll never know; kind of like calling it a "patrol carbine" versus "assault rifle".

WOW! I'm speechless! Did not expect to read this about PGW!

Wow. Didn't know about PGW being viewed like that. I've seen 3 examples of their 50BMG and they looked pretty nice. I had a hard choice choosing between Cadex and PGW for my last couple of rifles. But I went with Cadex.

It's possible. I have a couple that will do this and have shot a few friend's rifles that can also do this. But those are the ones you never sell. What I really wanted to point out though is I've seen a lot of reports where using a suppressor on these types of rifles (look up LMT MWS) seems to shrink groups a bit as well. The NEA25 has been sold/used for the last few years in areas where suppressors are used a lot. Realistically I would hope for 3/4 moa.
