milsurp alert!! - check this out!

I did have a very small part in the importation of these rifles, I was asked if it was a good idea to bring these rifles in and I stongly advised Tradex to do so. I knew that their were enough hard core Mosin collectors in Canada that would buy them.

I mentioned something similar headed into their m39 import a few months back when I was there doing some hand selections. I think Anthony finally has got the message that we want nice mosins :).

By the way, I took a pic of my tang date before I re-assembled the rifle after cleaning and inspection. Not sure if others' rifles will follow a similar pattern, but mine's marked Izhevsk triangle over "19". The last 2 digits were omitted. This is not uncommon on 1942-43 guns where the date is sometimes absent or only the first 2 digits. I think the theory is the last 2 digits were stamped as needed near the end of a production year, but sometimes due to urgency they jus didn't bother adding the extra stamps.

Also, there is a lot of bluing wear on my tang bottom. So there must have been gunk or oil contamination or something there that prevented the bluing from taking.

I'm also running out of storage space in the mosin rack. In fact, this doesn't include the carbines or this new 91/30 with bayonet (91/30/43?). Time to examine more storage options :(

I dunno, Claven, what are the Americans calling these on their forum? 91/43 is shorter, I'm voting for that one lol

As near as I can tell they aren't applying a name. And why should we wait for them to name them first? Seems kinda typical for us to defer to us collectors. Balls to that.

When I was dealing with the French dealers about 3 months ago, we were calling them 91/30/43's. So it's nothing new LOL... but I think there must be an actual factory designation. Probably not 91/30/43.

Edit: There we go, thanks Ratnik :)
