I own alot of lee enfields.. Full wood and sporters... I've been on a kick of buying sporterized ones I dunno they have lots of history.. Used in war then put meat on table.. Anyone else love the sporter?

I've carried a few sporterised LE's over the years . Everything from Parker Hale and Epps conversions to simple chop jobs . I still carry one ( or three ) . They're still one of my favorite rifles , and will probably be the last rifle I carry ( I'm getting older , you start to think of these things lol )

I really like the Enfield sporters. My first rifle was a #4 Parker Hale Deluxe with a Monte Carlo stock and 5 rd mag. My brother was in need of reliable rifle,I gifted him that one. I bought another Parker Hale #4 with a cut down military stock and put a Bishop sporter stock set on it. Both are excellent shooters.
I have a Ross sporter in .303 Brit., a 95 Winchester and a Ruger #1A as well.

I like the commercially produced sporters ( Parker Hale, Santa Fe, and Globe), but some of the ones produced in Bubba's basement look horrific IMHO....

I turned mine into a jungle carbine with parts from ebay and Numrich.

...bubba's the name, milsurp's the game!

;)

Unreservedly yes. In fact one of the classiest looking sporters, of any make or model, I ever laid eyes on was a conversion done by an unknown source into a one piece custom stock in fancy walnut and five shot mag. I would also like to add I am a fan of the Enfields in their original full trim as well.

Enfield love!

Love them as you can tell! I used to have a lee speed but sold it and regretted it ever since!
Two of them are Churchill conversions and the other Canadian bubba! They milled down the receivers and whatnot and the bottom one weighs a whole 6 pounds.

I enjoy restoring older Lee Enfields and Metfords. I find many sporters around this area of Ontario. It is hunt camp country and LE sporters are everywhere. I even picked one up at a church bazzar.

I dont need full wood and a nose cap to appreciate the history of a rifle. Reading the markings and doing the detective work to figure out what it is and where it has likely been is my hobby.

When I look at a prospective purchase, I of course look at completeness with an eye for restoring. However, some of Bubba's poor red headed orphans come home with me. Often they shoot so well and handle with such good balance that they stay as sporters. I just clean them up, fix up and modify them to my tastes.

When I hunt seriously to put venison on the table, it is invariably with a LE sporter.

Somehow in the past month I ended up with a 1897 sporter and a 1901 the 1897 is Don up like a Lee speed it shoots amazing
