Hello gents,

A few years ago these rifles weren't turning any heads and didn't fetch much of a price, seems like the last year or so though they've been popping up on the EE for north of $700/800 (asking price at least), so what is the going rate of a nice K31 rifle? (Working on a trade plus cash deal and want to make sure it's fare).

Thanks for the info!

I am no expert, but your reading of the current market (EE at least) seems about right. They currently go for 8-900$ depending of the condition and what's included. Some pop up at little less, but they dissapear quickly. I paid 425$ for a very nice condition one with the sling, crown protector, Lee dies set and brass (100pc). It was about 2 years ago and it was the going rate then.

I sold one last week for $800 + shipping. The first "I'll take it came in after just 8 minutes. In the 2 hours that I was offline, I got 3 more "I'll take it"'s and 2 other inquiries. I would say $800 is the base price now. You should expect $900+ depending on condition moving forward.

I bought one at Wholesale Sports about 2 years ago for $299. Just sold it for $800.
People have really fallen for the hype. I wasn't crazy about it. Goofy action, tiny sights, awkward stock...
But that's just me. I love my Swede 96, 38, CG 63 and CG 80's.
I would take the Swede in a heartbeat.

So, how much would one of these go for nowadays? Both in mint condition with serial number matching bayonets.

The action is very intelligent, requires less manipulation, and is easier to disassemble than most standard actions (certainly quicker than a Swedish Mauser). The sights are also more open than a standard Swedish Mauser sight, so I am confused as to why you say they are tiny.

To the OP I would say 600-900$ would be fair, but I haven't really been following the price for a bit. I sold my spare at 700$, and I stopped paying attention as I think that the prices are at this point ridiculous.

I wish my RSP investments would do as well as my milsurps.:)

You need to get away from the banks and brokerages that look at your money and try to find out how much of it they can get before you get yours. Many of their investment instruments have higher handling fees than they pay out in profits or dividends.

Do your own due diligence for an hour or so a week, look through the market hype and do your own investing. I went through a very similar cycle before I retired. I wasted 20 years with brokers/banks then after mostly just breaking even I told them to take a hike and struck out on my own. On a good year I make 50% on a bad year I lose 10% but I averaged a 25% compounded return per annum over the last 20 years. I have a better income now, after taxes than I did while I was working.

One bit of advice, If you have a mortgage or credit card balances, pay them off first. Your home will be your biggest investment while young. Once that mortgage/car payment/credit card debt is gone the cash available for GOOD investments accumulates quickly. Then you need some self restraint and patience. Never fall in love with an investment. When you make a decent profit, sell. Look for something else but lock in your profits regularly. TFSA investments are better than RRSPs. You will find that the money you take out of your RRSP later is taxed higher than when you put it in. That's my experience anyway.

Totally! Can't wait for my cheap Garands, Enfields and K98's now that the surplus ammo has long since dried up!

I wasn't saying "wait until the ammo dries-up before you purchase a K-31" ... I was saying "wait for the other show to drop, i.e. the price of the K-31's ammo".

Sigh.

Wait until the ammo dries-up for 'em .... :(

The Swiss government has restarted the manufacture of GP11 in batches to accommodate its widespread use in matches and at the federal Schützenfest. The price will climb, eventually, but it will remain in production for the foreseeable future.

I am not selling, so this is all academic, but would there be any extra premium paid for an individual rifle featured in a magazine article?
I wrote an article about tracking down the tags hidden under the butt plate, and used my K-31 in the article.
