Troy PAR range report

Just returned from the range with my recently modified 7.62x39 barrelled Troy PAR. I was pleased with the outstanding accuracy from the AR15performance.com 16" offering and how easily the test ammo cycled and ejected from the .223 port. My brass reloads worked flawlessly, however I did experience one light proper strike with the Norinco and several with the Barnaul steel cased ammunition which destroyed my confidence in this fire control group. The next upgrade is to the hammer spring on this .30 bore sized platform.

What do you consider outstanding accuracy and what did the caliber conversion cost and consist of?

Is there enough space on the forearm in full pump to mount a bipod like a Harris? If not putting on on the barrel would probably affect accuracy quite a bit correct?

Thanks

You can mount a 2" rail on the very front of the forend which gives just enough space for a bipod.

Btw, I only got the 223/556 version . Is it possible to mod this one to a diff cal?

You purchased what I have which has been modified in 3 other Calibers from the base model.

Not too bad, maybe $400 shipped Cdn.
Were you getting outstanding accuracy with all ammo, or at least consistent?

I was averaging under 1" at 100 yards with the factory brass and reloads as The steel case had many touching with the odd flyer. Please understand I was sighting in the scope and breaking in a new barrel.

I would imagine the increased taper of the 7.62x39 case would be beneficial for extraction with a pump action as well.
I'm starting to warm up to the PAR.
I'm guessing most folks go with the 'optic ready' model, but those that have it, how's the folder?

Cheaper surplus, factory loads and hand loads..... nice to have the option for plinking at reduced cost.

Correct on all counts, plus it's a superior cartridge then the anemic 300 ACC. The taper is conducive to aid extraction as already suggested.
