How's this one look? Another 3A

The parts look all original, no replacements. Your bolt handle also looks to not be ground smooth and retains the very rough 1943 fininish. Many light refurbs have had the knob ground a little smoother. Like mine, your shelf was sanded a little after the serial number was applied. I believe this was done during light refurb.

It's a good one from what I can see. Congrats.

It's funny, by the way, that the "Z" sound in russian is a rounded "3", as seen in your prefix. A Russian number "3" has a flat top, like you see after your serial number prefix.

Thanks a lot. I'm really happy with it. I'm glad I picked one of these up.

I am getting rid of the one I grabbed. It was for a buddy to bring in to the USA, but turns out that's not easy at
at all with a Russian gun. Ah well. Hopefully they go up in value for those who hold onto them.

Nice Rifles!

Does anyone have a screen shot of the Trade Ex Canada Ad that was up on their website as it been removed now.

Got mine yesterday. A few minor scratches on the shellac finish but no dents. Stock markings are not great, many are just showing the outline so the stock was lightly sanded at some point. Bore should clean up to be excellent. The SNs match and is a 3 something that looks like a circle with a vertical line through it. Does any one know what this letter is called?

Thanks Claven2, it is indeed that symbol. I made a mistake in the SN though it is actually Bf not 3f as I initially thought. I did not have the rifle in good lighting when I first checked.

Post some pics when you get a chance. I'm interested in seeing that letter.

wood on mine is in similar shape. i cant tell for sure, but it looks like there might be some rust on the mag. I havnt had a chance to clean the cosmo out yet. my guess is these got refurbed a long time ago because they all seem to have shellac flake.

these are not the tpical 1960's-1970's era mass refubs. They were done separately and generally parts weren't replaced. I'm guessing They were refurbed early after the war and very lightly.

I'm quite happy with the one i received, does not appear to have been reblued as serial numbers on floorplate/receiver are still partially in the white where struck. Bolt is very roughly machined and has not been re-polished. Stock has a coat of lacquer but all stamps are clear and visible with the exception of the large round one as it appears to have been lightly struck. Overall very nice example with serial in the 3B1### range.
