305 receiver where can a guy get one

for myself..... anything imported after 2009..... i don't even look at when buying a m305/m14s for stripping down. The bottom of the barrel started coming in at higher prices and the italian stocks and other dressed up deals are just lip stick on a pig. I watched as the rifles coming across my bench from 2007 thru to 1012 and the steady and rapid decline in quality of individual components.... not to target any one dealer but the #### show started when the canam shorties first came out. So many of those rifles had wildy out of spec receiver heels and left side heel areas and never should have been sold to us. Thankfully canam is a reputable dealer and I think got on top of replacing the worst of those.
But I'd be amiss not to mention these facts as I have long been preaching to those that want to cover thier ears that while the prices keep going up..... the quality has rapidly and shamefully gone down hill...... and now we have the 7.62x39 abortion........ sorry that just ruins the legacy for me hahaha

I build on pre 2009 or nothing and even then I get out my gauges. 2007 and earlier tho.... gravy ;)

How I can check for an out of spec receiver heel?

without the dimensional drawings and some machinists measuring tools it's extremely difficult to truly analyze a receiver at home.
However, the receivers I refer to in that post have visibly anomalies and were imported somewhere around 2010/2011/2012/2013, right around the arrival of the factory shorties. I did take a pile of pics when it all went down as there was one particular importer who was selling those affected rifles. In my opinion, and some folks are gonna cringe and tell me to shut my mouth...... it looked to me like the affected reveivers were originally machined with the full auto details and these details were shoddily removed and welding performed to fill the affected areas. Without going into anymore detail than that, one can visually inspect thier receiver against a clear picture of the right hand side of a fully intact USGI receiver and check the areas I refer to. These obviously passed muster at importation but they never should have been sold to the public due to the absolutely shoddy workmanship in rendering them to semi auto only. As a metal trades person, and on call lead hand for major steel fabrication jobs that involve all facets of metal trades from machining to forming to welding tig , mig and stick, aluminum, stainless and carbon steels..... and my intimate knowledge of the m14 platform..... every one of those receivers would have gone in the scrap metal pile.
I've spoke up many times about stuff I've discovered over the years but it always gets swept under the rug. But you asked ..... so there is my answer ;)

That's why my IDF heavy barrel kit, got spun onto an LRB reciever..... :) expensive, but beautiful and %100 in spec.

How do you tell manufacture and import date? Mine says M305 on the receiver, Cal 7.62 below it, and then the serial number below that. P142###. Hard to find solid info. Hope its a good one though. I'm into it for $1300 now. Haha.

whats a metal trades person? A Welder/Machinist/Millwright/Tinsmith/Pipefitter/Boiler maker combo journeyman?

anyone who has been in the metal trades long enuff to recognize porosity in welded metals ..... and can tell the difference between die grinder ball marks and milling machine chatter. LOL
are you challenging my assessment? or have anything to contribute otherwise?

there's no need to panic, the receivers i speak of came from one source , right when the first factory shorties arrived, and as far as i know, we haven't seen any like that since.
